Steven Taylor Back In Training In Two Weeks

Good news from Chris Hughton today as he says that Steven Taylor’s overall fitness level right now is excellent, and that  he’ll rejoin the training in a couple of weeks.

Steven Taylor – back in full training in two weeks

Steven has had a tough year, and after he damaged ligaments in his knee in January against WBA, he then damaged his shoulder in his comeback game at Carlisle United in July.

And his contract runs out next June, and still no signs that he will accept Newcastle’s latest offer on the table for him.

But it looks like he’s almost ready to return to the fray,  and we have to think Steven could do a great job for Newcastle right now at right back.

The 24 year-old is still a couple of weeks away, but the Newcastle manager seems impressed by his fitness levels.

Chris Hughotn told The Journal this morning:

“Steven has got an excellent fitness level and his rehab work has been excellent,” “But he is still a couple of weeks away from joining in with everyone else in training.”

“We’re looking at probably mid-October for him to be back involved but as with all long-term injuries, it just depends how he reacts to being back in amongst it.” “It will be excellent to have a player like Steven back in the squad again.”

It will be good to have Steven back – and we’d certainly like to see him sign his new contract before too long.

Steven is a good player, despite the criticism he always seems to get, and he can do an excellent job for his home-town club, in the seasons ahead.

His wage negotiating position has been dramatically reduced, in-line with the strong defence we have now.

At one time he was possibly our best defender, but that’s all changed with the form of Colo and Williamson. Not to mention Sol waiting in the wings.

He can either be greedy and sign a pre-contract elsewhere, or stick with his home town club.

I’d forgotten all about him, goes to show how well Colo and Wills are doing

Totally agree with Arty and Jaydan – would love to see him slot into right back position.

That would be a excellent addition to the back four. Our defence as a whole has really impressed me since Williamson came in. Taylor at right back would complete the jigsaw.

we need, in the defense, hopefully to return as soon as possible, my line of defense, once you go would be Steve Taylor, Coloccini, WILLIAMSON and JOSE ENRIQUE.
