Newcastle manager Hughton has invited offers for some of his young guns, after admitting that he will need to send some of them out on loan, but he can only do that when offers come in for the players.
Ben Tozer – on loan at Northampton Town for a month
20 year-old defender Ben Tozer joined Northampton Town last week and started his first game with the Carling Cup win at Liverpool, and scored for the side against Bradford City in their 2-0 home win last Saturday.
Ryan Donaldson is being watched by Carlisle United, and they may take the England U19 International to Brunton Park, but they also are interested in 19 year-old Nile Ranger, but the London lad is unlikely to be loaned out at this time.
Chris talked about the loan situation today:
“Whether or not we send anyone out is really dictated by clubs making the enquiries,” “We’ve not had anything yet but we’re quite early after the window so I wouldn’t necessarily expect anything.”
“If someone came in and offered an opportunity for someone to go out short-term to get some games then we would listen to them.” “To be honest though, at the moment I’m not particularly keen for anyone to go out on loan at the moment.”
Once Newcastle are out of the Carling Cup, if that happens this season (we hope not), then it could be that Nile Ranger will also be loaned out to get some games, and make a name for himself.
Nile has been in great form again this season, and this lad could come through over the next year to 18 months at Newcastle, and is showing just how well the Newcastle Youth system is working on Tyneside.
