Newcastle Fan Johnson Hopes To Play Against Magpies

Adam Johnson was at the Newcastle club for a couple of years from the time he was just 10 years old.

Adam Johnson – anxious to play against Newcastle

But then the Sunderland-born youngster left for Middlesbrough where he made the grade big time and of course is now an England International.

So there’s another local player Newcastle missed out on, and they’ll not be happy they let the lad leave in 1999,  when Adam was even a Newcastle supporter.

So it’s hardly surprising that Johnson is now hoping to start for Manchester City tomorrow against his boyhood team Newcastle United.

Johnson was a very good £7M signing from Middlesbrough last January, and since then he’s showed he’s a player with lots of class,  and his career has progressed very well, although he missed the cut for the England squad for the World Cup last summer.

Adam scored a good opportunist goal in Thursday night’s 1-1 draw against Juventus, in the Europa League, and wants more playing time at the Eastlands club.

Adam talked about his history at Newcastle:

“I was at Newcastle when I was a kid from 10-12 before I went to Middlesbrough.””So I grew up supporting Newcastle and David Ginola and players like that. ”

“It’s fantastic to play against North East teams.” “These are the type of games I want to be playing in.”

Both sides on Sunday have recently beaten Premier League Champions Chelsea, Newcastle’s second team beat Chelsea’s second team 4-3 in the third round of the Carling Cup, and last weekend City deservedly beat the Champions 1-0 at Eastlands.

dam played 118 times with 16 goals for Middlesbrough from 2004 until early this year, and has so far played 22 times for Manchester City with 2 goals.

He seems in good form right now, so we hope he doesn’t play on Sunday. 😀
