It’s not the first time that Newcastle have been linked with Wolves’ central midfielder David Jones.
David Jones – Newcastle interested in central midfielder?
News today that Newcastle United are interested in Wolves midfielder David Jones, with interest also being shown by Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.
Indeed, one way to see which players Newcastle may be interested in next summer, is to look at a list of players whose contracts run out then, and could become free agents if they don’t sign new contracts.
That’s true for Jones, who has so far refused to sign a new contract at Wolves, and it’s the only reason we keep bringing up Birmingham’s Swedish winger Seb Larsson, who was a Newcastle target in the past.
The former Derby County player, who started his career at Manchester United, has played over 50 times for Wolves with 5 goals, and he’s looked a good player when we’ve watched him the last couple of seasons in the Premier League.
There’s no real evidence that Newcastle are interested in Jones, but the club will be interested in strengthening their central midfield next summer, and they will continue to look for good deals in the market, and Jones will be available for nothing, if he refuses to sign a new contract at Wolves by next summer.
Newcastle will face competition from Bolton and Blackburn, but obviously Wolves will be hoping the Southport-born player will sign an improved contract at Wolves.
