Newcastle Battle Arsenal For Top Portuguese Youngster

Portugal’s 18 year-old top youngster Ruben Pinto, is reportedly on Arsenal manager’s Arsene Wenger’s wanted list.

Ruben Pinto – in big demand by top clubs

The Daily Mail this morning is claiming the Benfica youngster is now being tracked by Arsene Wenger and the London club had  scouts watch him last night, when he played very well for the Portugal Under-19 side against Azerbaijan.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw, after Azerbaijan had gone ahead 2-0, but a goal from Pinto helped the Portuguese youngsters salvage a draw, and the Portuguese captain played in central midfield and rallied his side in the later stages of the game.

This is interesting to Newcastle,  because the Tyneside club are also reported to have the 18 year-old very high on the list of youngsters they want to bring to Newcastle.

The Magpies of course are tracking quite a few top youngsters at the moment, and just a couple of weeks ago persuaded the top rated Frenchman, 18 year-old winger Yven Moyo, to sign a four year deal on Tyneside – so they’ve already shown they can attract the very best to Tyneside.

Pinto, who was born in Arroja, is one we will follow to see if Newcastle can be successful in attracting the youngster to Tyneside.

if we beat arsenal for a youngsters signature then chances are arsenal werent that serious about signing them in the first place. lets be honest, no young footballer in there right mind would choose our youth academy over arsenals. and even if we do sign top youngsters we never seem to be able to develop them to there full potential. if the likes of kadar and vuckic were at arsenal i wold imagine they would have made a lot more progress than they have here.

    Spot on NICK 69.

it’s all very well getting these youngsters in but we don’t have the foreign coaches or even a Simon Clifford type from Futebol de salao to develop their skills and technical play.

So Beardo isn’t good enough to teach these youngster a thing or 2, is that what you’re saying fella’s????

The problem is, we don’t have enough coaching staff at the club to give those individuals the time for 1 on 1 teaching, so thats why they’re not as advanced as they should be!!

beardo is certainly a step in the right direction, but we also need someone who is technically very aware and can develop them with their skills, fitness, speed awareness, passing, mobility and movement.

Can’t see Calderwood etc showing them how to do a stepover, a scissor or Maradona turn !!!
