Hughton Happy With Draw – Speaks To BBC After Game – Video

Chris Hughton is as calm as ever after the game today, and seemed to be quite pleased that Newcastle were able to get a point after being 2-0 down after 23 minutes, and then still 2-1 down in the 4th minute of injury time, when Colo scored the equalizer, and then went crazy – with the Newcastle crowd of over 44,000.

Chris said he knew the Wigan side would be dangerous on the break, but he was pleased that our  lads never gave up hope, and they kept battling to get a point right at the death.

The lads showed great character again, but that was only after they gave away two poor goals to our former winger  Charles N’Zogbia in that first half, when Newcastle looked completely dismal.

We played bad for most of the match today. Even at 1-2 we gave the ball away to easily. BUT: the lads showed great determination to come back after two goals scored by Wigan( i can`t stand Insomnia – of course did he score two goals against us……………)
I hope this can be a reminder of how easily we can go down against even the “weaker” sides, and that we need to show the courage and determination we showed for the last 10 minutes today.

Danny Guthrie and Danny Simpson can be vital when they get a couple of matches the next week. Routledge didn`t prove any thing when playing todat. Thank god Jonas plays well now a days…

korn8 – in the first half Jonas was absolutely dire, the worst performance I’ve ever seen from him. He did make up for it somewhat with his assist and corner.

I agree about Guthrie – he never did a right wingers job today but he looked decent going forward, be really interesting to see how that fight for Centre Mid plays out .

That was the Luckiest Point we will get al season. We didn’t deserve it the things that went on – At one point 3 players looked at the ball thinking who will get the ball and then wigan just took it away from us. We are farr better than this !!!! Come on Lads Were All Behind you but you have to Try !!! 11 On the Pitch and the Guys on the Bench and the 44000 In The ground We are Newcastle United !!!!!

I’m happy with the draw because it’s 1 better than nothing.

We shouldn’t be settling for draws at home when we’re conceding soft goals like that.

Chris. “we showed character”, oh yeah !
Hows about showing us some football, character does`nt necessarily win games, skillful players usually do.
Yeah i know he`s laboring under money restrictions and i certainly have no objection to the signing of BA & Tiote, great buys !
Unfortunately we still lack quality, and to- days right side of the back four were given a clinic by N`Zogbia, time to bring in a decent RB and get Taylors name on a contract.
It appears to most that neither Perch or Williamson can cut it in this league, yet they continue to be penciled in every week, how many times and perhaps games will it take before it becomes apparent neither are good enough.
Dont get it ? Hughton being primarily a defensive coach, should be working with these two, or better yet drop them.
It is also apparent without BA we have no playmaker in midfield, or goalthreat without Nolan.
To put Carroll out in front without any help, well you may as well just take him off the pitch, waste of time.
It`s gonna be a hard slog and that`s just to survive, to not spend on bringing in some badly needed quality, could be the difference between survival and the wealth it generates or back to where we came from, the second tier and who knows what ?
