Nile Ranger is again coming through strongly for Newcastle this season, and Chris Hughton will need to decide how he can get the 19 year-old some games this season.
Nile Ranger – in great demand from other clubs
Nile appeared some 30 times in the Championship last season, and while still young and having a lot to learn, his talent was there for all to see. And at Stamford Bridge in the Carling Cup last month, the Londoner scored our first goal and looked dangerous, even though he was out of position on the right wing.
And apparently almost every club in the Championship enquired about the player’s availability in the summer to go out on loan, but so far Chris has decided to keep him at St. James’ Park.
Middlesbrough, Carlisle United and Huddersfield are three clubs said to be more than interested in taking the lad on loan this season.
This is what Chris told the Sunday Sun today about the talented 19 year-old 6’2″ striker:
“He’s still developing his game here. We like what we see, he’s excellent in training and at the moment we feel he’s in the best place for him,”
“He hasn’t got the minutes on the football pitch that he would like. But he’s still a very young one, which you can forget.” “He’s big and strong which makes many people forget that he’s still actually only 19. The best place for his development is here.”
Nile was born in Highgate, London and so far has 34 total appearances for the Newcastle club with 3 goasl, but we have to think the lads need to get some first team games this season – somewhere.
But with Carroll, Lovenkrands, Ameobi, Best and Xisco also pushing for a striker position at Newcastle, it could be that Chris needs to send the youngster out on loan to get games, so he can acquire the experience and playing time he needs right now, in his football development.
He’s possibly a great future striker at Newcastle United, and after some run-ins with the law a few years ago, he seems to have really settled down well at Newcastle.

Comment #1He is The Sort Of Player we Need To Keep Hold Of we cant Afford To Let Him Go Out on Loan . Until Shola Came on and Then Ranger we were Hopeless Up Front. we need a New Quality Striker still – I reccon Chris Needs to CAll His old Pall Robbie at Spurs and get Him On loan in January !!! Experience Is Everything In This league Its No Good Having Championship Players and Expect Them To Perform – I am Sorry To Say as Much as we Hold Him In Our Hearts But Lovenkrands was hopeless yesterday’ Is He a Championship Player ?? they all have to step up to the plate and pull there fingers out here as if we carry on like this its Not Doing to Be Man Utd Liverpool etc its going to Be Doncaster and Watford Next Season.

Comment #2Totally agree. We should have got keane in last window, just a shame the van der vart deal was wrapped up so l8 or i think we would have. We need experience up top! As much potential as Carroll has he aint finished article yet & i think Ranger could actually be better than Andy but what we need is a creative st who finds pockets of space & pops up with goals when we need them, make no mistake bout it keane is still one of the best around at that. I think we need a new rw 2 possibly try get Bentley on loan? Really hope Gosling can do job there which means we won’t have too. Perch needs 2 be dropped he is yoing & not ready to play against some of the talent in pl, if Zog can do that 2 him imagine what players like arshavin & bale can do? Really hope simpson & staylor are fit & raring to go soon coz we need em big time. Willo has performed well so far this season but for me it needs to be Sol & colo at cb. Hope we get 3pnts vs west ham heading in 2 the big derby. Keep faith in CH lads! He has done wonders bringing us back from the dead lets give him the chance 2 finish what he started we have one very important thing we didn’t have when we went down we have spirit.

Comment #3I’d have Ranger on that list ahead of Best and Xisco. To be fair, that’s mainly because I want him to get the minutes and get a bit of experience, not anything against Best or Xisco. They haven’t really had much of a chance this season.
Ameobi seems to be a far better proposition coming from the bench and, as far as I can see, he’ll have to get some consistent performances in before he can get a start.
Did anyone else feel a little bit gutted that, after all the harping on about swapping Nolan for Lovenkrands, our Danish wonder had a bit of a sh1t match yesterday?
