Something that Newcastle fans hoped they would never hear again, but it looks like Andy Carroll has got himself into trouble again, and has been charged with assault.
Andy Carroll – charged with assault – again
The 21-year-old played for Newcastle in their 2-2 draw against Wigan at the weekend, and will appear before magistrates in Hexham today.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman confirmed:
“Andrew Thomas Carroll, 21, previously of Prestwick, Newcastle, has been charged with assault.
“He is due to appear before Tynedale Magistrates this morning.”
Carroll is also due to be in front of the Newcastle Magistrates next Monday, 25th October, to face charges for his previous assault.
That one happened in a Newcastle night club about a year ago – but this unfortunately is something new – and of course this altercation will hardly help his situation in that case next week, which is expected to last a few days.
We don’t know the extent of this yet, but this is not good news for Newcastle or the Newcastle faithful, and it seems that Andy hasn’t learned his lessons yet.
And this will, and should infuriate the powers that be at Newcastle United, because once again this will be bad news about the club, which has nothing to do with what we are doing on the pitch.
And to think, Andy just signed a new and improved five year deal at the club – so let’s hope that’s not what he was celebrating that led to this new altercation. That would be ironic indeed.
