Les Ferdinand’s Good Advice For Andy Carroll

Les Ferdinand was always a first class professional when he played his football, and of course he hit a terrific 52 goals in 82 total appearances for the Magpies from 1995 until 1997.

Les Ferdinand – has good advice for Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll promises to be just as good as Les was at Newcastle, but there is a cloud over Andy’s future right now, because of his too frequent altercations with the law, and the latest happened last Sunday in Hexham.

And Les has come out today and offered the 21 year-old some good advice:

“He has had a lot of headlines over the past year, some of them for the wrong reasons,”  “What he needs to do is take a long hard look at himself. He needs to stay out of the trouble, let his football do the talking and nothing else.”

“The supporters up there are unbelievable and they need a striker to pin their hopes on. If he scores the goals, then the Newcastle supporters will love him.”

Andy made a great start to the Premier League season wearing the famous number 9 shirt at Newcastle, with 4 goals in his first 3 games including a hat-trick against Aston Villa in that amazing 6-0 win, but since then Andy has not scored and even looked a little jaded.

And he seemed in line to get an England cap a few weeks ago, but this latest altercation will not help one little bit in that regard.

Les continued:

“Carroll has a great chance of playing for England, but the recent headlines won’t have helped his cause,” “Chris Hughton gave him the No.9 shirt, which everyone knows is a very special honor to have.”

“There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that shirt and that is something he needs to understand.” “I’m sure having that shirt means a lot to him because he is a born-and- bred Geordie, but he needs to clean up his act.”

Good advice from Sir Les Ferdinand – and we just have to hope that Andy is sensible enough to take it, and sooner rather then later.

ganiyu – so basically what you’re saying is that Andy Carroll should ignore the advice of people like Les Ferdinand and go and play for Scotland instead?

I do agree that Andy is no kid, but I think you are.
About 12 years old would be my guess

It would be awesome if CH could tempt Sir Les up here as an assistant/coach. Fan favourite and I think his appointment at Tottenham coincided with Jermaine Defoe starting his scoring streak.

we need Sir Les in for a coaching role. He is an definitely attacking minded person but he can teach every one of our players on the pitch, more specifically Andy Carroll.
