Sack Rumors Have No Effect On Chris Hughton

There is a momentum of press coverage today about Chris Hughton’s job on Tyneside  still being under threat.

Chris Hughton – not bothered by sack rumors

That’s even though the lads had another great win at West Ham late yesterday afternoon, to move up to 9th position in the league at the moment before today’s games.

Chris was interviewed after Newcastle’s great 2-1 win at West Ham yesterday, and was asked about the sack rumors that have prevailed n Tyneside this past last week:

“In all honesty, I don’t think about the speculation. The job that I have at Newcastle is big enough without worrying about that,” “It is demanding enough as a job to not think about what is being said outside of the football club.”  “What I am keen to do is look at the positives.”

“They are that in a season that we knew would be a tough season, we are one win away from being five or six positions better off than what we are.”  “There are a group of teams that are in a similar position to us. We knew there would be tough periods this season and we have to get through them.”

“If there are any criticisms I just look back at the periods where it’s been the opposite,” “If you’re a manager the key is not to get carried away when people are praising you, and not to let it affect you when you’re getting criticism.”  “That is the best approach I feel.”

And Chris even cracked a joke when told that former manager  Joe Kinnear had been mentioned as a possible replacement.

“I might get him in to do the Press!”

Newcastle have 11 points from their first 9 games of the season, which is not too bad at all, and this compares well to the 6 points from the first 9 games Newcastle got in the the relegation season, a couple of years ago.

That’s not too bad at all, and we didn’t expect to even be in the top half of the league this season, but are building slowly for a strong future.

sort out home form and then these rumours are gone .. hughton is a good man manager .. just can he select the right team at home .. maybe against sunderland with the fans behind the team we’ll see the real newcastle under hughton …
hopefully we can also beat arsenal but next weekend is the big game IMO.

Loved it on MotD when the reporter asked CH re JFK “What do you respond to all those rumours?”
And he said “What rumours were they?”
    Reporter backtracked so much lol.

what the hell?? what idiots come up with this stuff… even the few Newcastle fans that maybe think we should have a different manager should know that CH deserves real shot at the PL before the PMS-crew starts nagging
