All Change At Newcastle Again For Arsenal Game

Chris Hughton has made a full nine changes for the Arsenal Carling Cup tie tonight, from the side that played at West Ham last Saturday.

The only players to start tonight who played at West Ham on Saturday are Krul in goal as expected, and Mike Williamson at center-back.

And as we expected Nile Ranger, Peter Lovenkrands, Haris Vuckic, Alan Smith, Wayne Routledge, Ryan Taylor, Tamas Kadar and Danny Guthrie are some of the lads who will start tonight.

However, Hughton has named a strong bench featuring Andy Carroll, Joey Barton, Chiek Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez and Fabricio Coloccini.

The only change from the team we thought would start is Perch at left back for Shane Ferguson, so it could be that Shane is injured, since he’s not even on the bench.

But this team is basically the second eleven, just as it was at Chelsea, which at least shows that Chris has confidence in these players.

Chris starts with a 4-4-2 formation as expected, with Nile Ranger and Peter Lovenkrands the two boys up front. But Chris has some top players on the bench – just in case.

Arsene Wenger plays a fairly experienced side, which includes Rosicky, Koscielny, Denilson, Walcott, Vela, Eboue and Bendtner who have good first team experience.

It’s a strong Arsenal line-up for a game that Arsenal really want to win, and the London side also has a strong bench with first-teamers Fabianski, Sagna, Fabregas and Arshavin ready to play if needed.

A win is what we want to see, but we’ll be happy enough if the lads play well and give a very good account of themselves – and then we can smash Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.

Howay The Lads!!

Newcastle United: Krul; R Taylor, Williamson, Kadar, Perch; Guthrie, Smith, Vuckic, Routledge; Ranger, Lovenkrands.
Subs: Soderberg, Coloccini, Enrique, Barton, Gutierrez, Tiote, Carroll.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Koscielny, Rosicky, Vela, Walcott, Denilson, Djourou, Eboue, Gibbs, Eastmond, Bendtner.
Subs: Fabianski, Sagna, Fabregas, Arshavin, Emmanuel-Thomas, Lansbury, Nordtveit

    strange team picking .. whos wide left .. guthrire?? .. if this isn’t a 4-5-1 formation I’m worried ..

    does this mean its

    Krul
    Taylor – Williamson – Kadar – Perch
    Routledge – Guthrie – Vuckic – Smith – Lovenkrands
    Ranger

What’s the point of having 2 first teamers on the bench, if we need to call upon extra quality it will be because we are losing and need goals.why not have tavernier on the bench….
Also PARTIZANovec…. Us winning on penos. Doubt it. Just look at what happened when we played your names sake belgrade in about 03!!

Would have preferred to see Ferguson on the left instead of Perch… not on the bench either…. strange considering how well he played v chelsea

judz1991 — based on this team selection I wouldn’t be surprised .. square pegs mate .. taylor should be RB .. we need a LB playing .. not perch .. so dodgy picking .. hope I’m proved wrong .. would love it .. just Love it if we beat them 🙂

yeahh im not impressed with the team selection tonight, but surely staying in the league is more important than the league cup? and after 9 games were 9th in the table, does this mean ashley expects us to be challenging for europee?? if so then he’s a very deluded man

judz1991 .. don’t know but O’Niell and other big name managers are available .. I think if hughton wins tonight and against sunderland he should be confirmed as manager and get a solid contract .. strange that this hasn’t happened yet ..

Big names dont necsacerily make it with our club as we’ve seen in previous years, Chris has gave us stability and half of how successful weve been is the team spirit, and do we really want o’neill coming in causing rifts and destroying the spirit within the team?

judz1991 .. hope it doesn’t happen but if we don’t sort out home form I’d rather a new manager than fizzy pop football …
I hope hughton knows what he’s doing as theres no doubt he’s been great for the club ..

but can he move us on ..

pearceet, if we lost then, surely it’s turn for other outcome next? 😉
Our formation looks like 4-5-1, but could turn into 4-3-3 with Routledge as left/right offence player and Løvenkrands/Rannger rotating on right-center manouvering space.
But have to defend well, must show teeth, guts and passion.

    good us playing the youngsters:

so they got good morale playing against arsenal youngster (so far 8 mins vuckic show he is class)

Perch: hope he can “learn” playing at centre back

Routledge: to learn from walcott and use his speed
