Hughton Only Wants To Talk About Sunderland – Nothing Else

Chris Hughton has been interviewed today, and it’s hardly surprising that he only wants to talk about preparations for the game with Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.

Chris Hughton – talk to the club about any statements

Chris told the Evening Chronicle today what he thinks his job is at Newcastle:

“It’s about winning as many games as I can.” “It’s a massive game for us on Sunday against Sunderland, and that is all we’re talking about between now and then.”

“We get on with the job.” “My understanding is that I am manager of this football club. I’m proud of that and looking forward to a big derby game.”  “But regarding any statements, you need to speak to the club.”

It’s also our understanding that he is manager of Newcastle.

But it’s obvious Chris wants to put all this recent and rather stupid speculation regarding his job behind him, and concentrate fully on Sunday’s game, which is always a massive game for Newcastle.

And with not having a win in our last four home games in all competitions, we are certainly due a win on Sunday, and that’s got to be good – with Sunderland as the visitors.

And we thought the 33,157 Newcastle fans who turned out for the game last night were just great, and supported their team throughout,  even though there was no luck on our side and referee Andre Mariner made some weird calls during the game.

So it seems the crowd are fully behind the players and Chris himself, and the manager thanked the fans for their support last night;

“The crowd have been excellent. We were losing 4-0 in a game and at no point did the crowd get on the players’ backs. I thought they were excellent all round.”

It’s an early KO game on Sunday, and the game starts at 1:30 pm local time and is being televised live aorund the world, and if  we don’t have a sell-out crowd on Sunday afternoon at St. James’ Park, then it’s hard to imagine when we will this season.

Howay The Lads!!

    If any player or NUFC coach watches these blogs…., I would like to make a suggestment. next sunday…before the match I would want to see the whole team including coaches , 1st team, reserve and most importantly the Manager CH huddle up to show unity next to the touchline. That would get the crowd and players going..even thinking about it sends shivers down my spine!!!!

    Let everybody see that we are really Newcastle UNITED!!!!

    Our Team spirit will see us OK. Nolan, Shola, Colo, Barton Andy, and CH will have the lads fired up for this one.
    A good 3 points, and send the village of the damned skulking back to their caves in Albania on Wear.

    Here is a thought for you. Since NUFC is one of the clubs that does have some money to spend in January, perhaps our rivals are trying to keep potential transfers from considering NUFC account managerial turmoil on the Tyne.

    IMHO NUFC is just a few players away from being a team that has to be defeated rather than a team that hopes to win. There are more than a handful of PL teams that would not like to see that become the case.
