Chris Hughton Appreciates Newcastle Fans’ Support

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has come out today and said he is thankful for the backing he has received from the Newcastle fans in recent days.

Chris Hughton – grateful to Newcastle fans for their support

Chris has talked to the Sunday Sun today and said this.

“As a manager it is nice and important that you’ve got the support of the fans. I have been delighted by some of the things that have been said to me,”

I think you can take me out of it. They see a team – of which the manager is a part – that is currently sitting ninth in the league and I’m very grateful to them. They also realise we’ve gone through difficult times and we’re in a different place.”

“It would be a great way to reward them. No matter what had happened this week, it’s a big game – a game you want to win for the supporters.”

“You always want to have the bragging rights. We know they’ve been more prominent in the last year or so because they’ve been the club in the Premier League, but we’re endeavouring to get back up to regions of the division where we want to be.” “This game would be a good place to start.”

If Newcastle can get the win today, and that’s what we want to see, it could well be that Chris will hear his name ringing out around the sold-out terraces of St. James’ Park today, and that will cheer him up a lot.

Hey, a win today will cheer is up  too – nothing else is really important right now.

Note: my wife Madeline has just told me for about the 2,000,000th time that I take this stuff far too seiously.

She just doesn’t understand. 😀

ED, you are so right with the wifey thing, mine`s threatened to sling my lap top until I reminded her that without it I couldn`t book any more hols!
Hoots knowing we are behind him got to be a good thing, makes me angry when I see so much negativity towards him! He saved us from doing a Leeds, got us promoted at first attempt, we could easily have at least another 7 points(Shitee/B`pool/Stoke) then no one would be complaining then! He`s learning but problem is some of us have very short memories. Survival and consolidation is our priority this season, DON`T FORGET IT LADS. Maybe because Chris has done so well , he`s raised our expectation levels too high!!

Ridiculous that people (a bitter alan oliver especially) spreading rumours of his job on the line.

Everyone at the club were talking about the goals set as promotion and then survival….and even if we are 17th then its a success.

Lets be totally honest, he isnt going to win a tactical war with the likes of ancellotti and redknapp, but he has built up a great atmosphere, has a great eye in the transfer market and the players play for him and its working.

His no. 2 might be the bloke to take tactics a little further. Hoots looks after the rest and he didn’t do too badly today.
