Newcastle Unchanged From West Ham – Steven Taylor On Bench

As expected Chris Hughton has named an unchanged side, from the one that won 2-1 at West Ham.

This means that Hughton will have Newcastle playing in a 4-4-2 formation this afternoon, with our two big local lads, Andy Carroll and Shola Ameobi  playing up front.

And  fit again local lad Steven Taylor has been named on the bench, since being out all season with his shoulder injury, and must have impressed manager Chris Hughton of his fitness in training this week. In fact Steven has said he feels the fittest he’s ever been.

This is a very important game for Newcastle – we don’t  have to tell Newcastle fans that – let’s hope we get all 3 points by 3:30 pm local time.

Titus Brable  starts for Sunderland, and young Nile Ranger, as expected, makes the bench for Newcastle.

Howay The Lads!!

Newcastle United: Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Enrique; Barton (c), Nolan, Tiote, Gutierrez; Carroll, Ameobi.
Subs: Soderberg, S Taylor, Perch, Lovenkrands, Routledge, Smith, Ranger

Sunderland:
Mignolet, Onuoha, Bardsley, Turner, Bramble, Cattermole (c), Henderson, Malbranque, Welbeck, Elmohamady, Bent.
Subs: Gordon, Da Silva, Gyan, Richardson, Ferdinand, Zenden, Mensah.

Not convinced with barton on the right but did set up the 2 goals from great crosses however he seems to wander into the middle far too often and as we know the right back needs as much help and cover as he can get.

Big game, let’s stuff the mackems!

hughton well done .. good team selection .. mactoon .. what barton gives on the right is a bit of solid tackling .. nevermind a good crosser .. with 4-5-1 I would have had routledge ..

    Come on

Don’t forget Taylor isn’t actually a proper “local lad”- he’s a London convert. Hence why he has been crying about the contract and wants to move. No real loyalty.

awesome_fumaca get your facts correct Steve Taylor was born in Lond but both his parents are Geordies he moved back to the North East when he was 1 so therefore not only does he have Geordie parents he was brought up as a Geordie you knob head

Calm down Geordiedoonsooth. I imagine you fully support him letting his contract run down so he can leave on a free then?
