As Expected – Newcastle Unchanged Against Blackburn

As expected Newcastle are unchanged from the side that did so brilliantly at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, when they defeated Arsenal 1-0.

There had been a slight doubt about Shola Ameobi, who was said to have a thigh strain, but it looks like the local lad is ready to go to war again –  this time against Blackburn Rovers.

Newcastle are looking for a fourth successive Premier League win, for the first time since Glenn Roeder did that in early 2006, after taking over from Graeme Souness.

Sam Allardyce has made three changes from the side that defeated Wigan Athletic 2-1 at home on Saturday.

Former Sunderland full-back Pascal Chimbonda, Junior Hoilett and Niko Kalinic all return to the starting line-up, with El-Hadji Diouf, Mame Biram Diouf and Jason Roberts on the subs bench.

A win tonight and Newcastle could see themselves  in 4th place in the Premier League, if Man City are defeated by the Red Devils.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Newcastle United: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Enrique, Barton, Nolan (c), Tiote, Gutierrez, Carroll, Ameobi.
Subs: Soderberg, Campbell, S Taylor, Smith, Routledge, Lovenkrands, Ranger.

Blackburn Rovers: Robinson, Salgado, Samba (c), Nelsen, Givet, Chimbonda, Emerton, Jones, Pedersen, Hoilett, Kalinic
Subs: Bunn, Dunn, EH Diouf, Goulon, Roberts, Hanley, MB Diouf.

    Links anyone?
Fat Sam is quite a wizard of tactician. 5 at the back? Bet the supporters are loving that.

Anyone just that little bit apprehensive, we typically falter after a good win at home. We MUST prove we can be consistent tonight and win our winnable home matches!

As a great friend of mine once said…

    I’m comin home newcastle
if you never win the cup again
I’d brave the dark at St james’s park
at the gallowgate end in the rain……

RIP Ronnie, I hope the lads do you proud tonight.

@Burnsie: I’m sure he’ll reply when he can. Harassing him on here is hardly going to give him any enthusiasm to do it.

Got a bet on 2-1 for us and 2-2 because the odds were nice and high (£85 for a fiver? Yes plase!).

    HWTL!

Spuggy i must admit i am a little concerned. blackburn were only going to come here and do one thing….defend. similar to what we did against arsenal. i do get the feeling that we are playing with confidence; what team wouldnt coming off the back of 3 straight prem wins but i think tonight is going to be all about patience. com on the toon.

Mr. Sham has always been about percentage football. Hate his style but I suppose it gets results.

Looks like they’re playing a long ball game. Ugh here we go.

Blackburn goal: Terrible from Cheik Tiote in the Newcastle area, the midfielder getting caught unnecessarily on the ball allowing Morten Gamst Pedersen to take a touch and slam low into the far corner.

Feckles! Oh well lets not crucify Tiote he’s been brilliant up to now, plenty of time to turn it round.

He lost his footing, Steve and ended up dwelling on the ball to recover from it.

You need a Vshare plug in but it works great on Firefox and Chrome.
