As expected Newcastle are unchanged from the side that did so brilliantly at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, when they defeated Arsenal 1-0.
There had been a slight doubt about Shola Ameobi, who was said to have a thigh strain, but it looks like the local lad is ready to go to war again – this time against Blackburn Rovers.
Newcastle are looking for a fourth successive Premier League win, for the first time since Glenn Roeder did that in early 2006, after taking over from Graeme Souness.
Sam Allardyce has made three changes from the side that defeated Wigan Athletic 2-1 at home on Saturday.
Former Sunderland full-back Pascal Chimbonda, Junior Hoilett and Niko Kalinic all return to the starting line-up, with El-Hadji Diouf, Mame Biram Diouf and Jason Roberts on the subs bench.
A win tonight and Newcastle could see themselves in 4th place in the Premier League, if Man City are defeated by the Red Devils.
Howay The Lads!!
Teams:
Newcastle United: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Enrique, Barton, Nolan (c), Tiote, Gutierrez, Carroll, Ameobi.

Blackburn Rovers: Robinson, Salgado, Samba (c), Nelsen, Givet, Chimbonda, Emerton, Jones, Pedersen, Hoilett, Kalinic
Subs: Bunn, Dunn, EH Diouf, Goulon, Roberts, Hanley, MB Diouf.

Comment #43Blakburn have a great record at the Toon. Won 4 out of last five. You get the feeling that we are going to struggle. When you expect a win from NUFC, the opposite happens. I think the lads might be tired. They are getting on a bit. I don’t think they can play three games in a week. I would settle for a draw right now.

Comment #44Same here Obafan. This is Fu**ing annoying!! I have just been to the pub which advertised that it showed the match live and went there only to find out that the owner can’t get it at his pub either!! Unbelievable!
Hope we wake up and score soon. 0-1 down in 3 minutes is just like the Newcastle of old, just typical. This team is better than that ffs!

Comment #46We have got to pull this around. Another defeat at home to a bottom 6 team would start the gossip again about Hoot’s position which we can do without!!!!

Comment #49Vshare is fine. Most of these stream plugins look dodgy (especially AntTV or whatever) because they’re low budget code.
Is Dowd watching the same game? That was never a yellow or a free kick..

Comment #53We struggle at home when we go a goal behind because we have not got the craft to break down defensive teams.

Comment #57To and bottom of it is…..we CAN NOT break teams down who come and sit.
We must find tactics to deal with this! Even dare I say if we go route 1 long ball to Carroll and Ameobi.

Bring Lover on for Shola on the hour imo

Comment #63Spuggy: That’s what parking the bus does. Especially when they’re playing 5-4-1. Terrible football, boring to watch… but it’s effective.
There’s very little you can do to break them down outside of playing counter attacking football which is nerve racking as it is.

Comment #65fair play to them if they keep us out for a full 90 minutes, we would be happy if it was us against them away from home to come out with a 1-0 win.
Rule no.1 – Don’t try and dribble the ball out of the box from a corner, punt the c*nt.

Comment #66Can see Tiote so disappointing as he knee down on the ground.
He should have pass it to the left – to Enrique.

i followed the vshare thingy an opened it up using an old interenet explorer (the one with the big “e” and not in chrome) – i didnt think it would work and had my reservations about it – but thumps right – its grand & it works.
i just got it installed to see the ref ticking of kalinic at the end of the 1st half. to all the doubters – just sayin it does work.
now to the 2nd half – get nobby off for routledge and get joey in alongside chiek – take strolla off an get loverkrands on – bitta pace and fresh legs might do the trick
i fat sam gets anythin from this i’ll be disgusted – this really is a match we need to win but much like the whole season when you think we’re finally on the way up we explode against the (supposed) easier teams – wigan, stoke & blackpool.
Hope to fcuk we come out all guns blazing 2nd half & get an early goal in the first 5 mins!!!
HWTL!!!!!

Comment #74I think newcastles biggest problem is we dont have much movement up front, we could do with taking shola off and bringing lovo on and maybe bring routledge on for nolan, and switch barton to the centre, and maybe we could bring s,taylor on to play right back for added height on set pieces
