As expected Newcastle are unchanged from the side that did so brilliantly at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, when they defeated Arsenal 1-0.
There had been a slight doubt about Shola Ameobi, who was said to have a thigh strain, but it looks like the local lad is ready to go to war again – this time against Blackburn Rovers.
Newcastle are looking for a fourth successive Premier League win, for the first time since Glenn Roeder did that in early 2006, after taking over from Graeme Souness.
Sam Allardyce has made three changes from the side that defeated Wigan Athletic 2-1 at home on Saturday.
Former Sunderland full-back Pascal Chimbonda, Junior Hoilett and Niko Kalinic all return to the starting line-up, with El-Hadji Diouf, Mame Biram Diouf and Jason Roberts on the subs bench.
A win tonight and Newcastle could see themselves in 4th place in the Premier League, if Man City are defeated by the Red Devils.
Howay The Lads!!
Teams:
Newcastle United: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Enrique, Barton, Nolan (c), Tiote, Gutierrez, Carroll, Ameobi.
Subs: Soderberg, Campbell, S Taylor, Smith, Routledge, Lovenkrands, Ranger.
Blackburn Rovers: Robinson, Salgado, Samba (c), Nelsen, Givet, Chimbonda, Emerton, Jones, Pedersen, Hoilett, Kalinic
Subs: Bunn, Dunn, EH Diouf, Goulon, Roberts, Hanley, MB Diouf.

Comment #97Actually now I’ve said that, I wonder if the FA would be so happy about “not taking retrospective action” against Barton…
There’s a teaser for you.

Comment #99Newcastle goal: Simple as you like for Newcastle as Joey Barton swings in a free-kick and Andy Carroll – who else? – slams a header home unmarked from eight yards out. Big Sam won’t like the marking on that one little bit.
As far as I’m concerned FSA can stick it up his fucking fat arse

Comment #104Barton doing his same old shit again. I think he needs some more yoga lessons. He just ruined his England chances, the daft prick. But I’ve heard he’s playing well again.

Comment #106Look lads cut Barton some slack, he’s done well so far, has ridden many a challenge you cannot expect him to play as he has forevermore, he’s bound to react at some stage like this, leopards and spots anyone?

Comment #111Pederson bumped into him and he turned around and gave him a right jab in the ribs. You want to see Joey doing that shite again? I know I certainly don’t.
Bring him off for Lover, swap wings with Jonas. Pederson is picking away at the ref about it too.

Comment #112It would be ironic if Barton were to score the winner 😛 Cuz he probably shouldn’t be on the pitch and should be having an early bath right now.

Comment #119A goal for Ranger will do him the world of good. I really like him and is extremely similar to Andy Carroll but younger and perhaps quicker.
