Can Newcastle Show Consistency Against Blackburn Tonight?

Newcastle have three league wins in a row, and they were three decent sides they won against, with two of them in the upper half of the league, and two of the games away from home.

Chris Hughton – must get Newcastle to be more consistent

Yes, West Ham were bottom of the league, but that game was also away from home.

So the lads have done very very well in those games, and we are now lying in 5th place in the league, which is much higher than we ever expected to be anytime this season.

Our next two games are against Blackburn and Fulham at home, and both those sides are in the lower half of the table – with Blackburn currently in 16th place and Fulham in 13th place.

These two games may look like the easiest two of the five, when you include our three previous wins, but don’t think they are going to be easy games to win, because they will not be.

What Newcastle have to do now is to show they can turn in performances like they have in their last three games – consistently.

And our home form has hardly been great, apart from the Aston Villa and Sunderland games,  and we have already dropped 7 points to Blackpool, Stoke and Wigan – three teams we would have been expected to get 9 points out of at home this season.

But we didn’t do that, and the lads didn’t play very well at all,  in those three home games.

So tonight we’ll get a chance to see just how good our Newcastle side are right now, and they’ve certainly seemed to be improving recently, and have some players in top form.

The proof of the pudding is always in the eating however, and if Newcastle can win tonight, and then beat Fulham on Saturday afternoon, then perhaps we really do have a much better side than we thought we had, just a short 4 weeks ago.

And some of us will be celebrating, just a little bit,  on Saturday night, that’s for sure. 😀

Howay The Lads!!

they maybe in the bottom 5 but home game v blackburn is not going to be an easy game by any means. im guessing that they will set out to defend and catch us on the break as they have tricky and pacey forwards. an early goal ideally or at least score the 1st goal will be very important as it wil encourage bburn to attack us, leaving spaces in the midfield and behind the defensive line.
it will be a missve test to the team and i believe patience is going to be critical.
minimum of at least 4 points from the next 2 home games.

6 points next 2 games .. 2 early goals tonight would be great .. hit them quick to try and kill off allardyces real madrid approach of sitting back.. hoafing balls into the box with attackers fouling our keeper ..

If the possibility of going 4th in the EPL isn’t a big enough carrot for the lads tonight i see a drab 1-0 , but if they all go out with a carrot fetish that would test Bugs Bunnies resolve then i can see another good drubbing @ St James’s .

The problem isn’t consistency. It’s more about attitude. We’ve shown we have the ability to beat the best.
What we haven’t got to do is become lazy and complacent and thinking all we have to do is go on the pitch and the job’s done.
Put in the same work load and intensity coupled with the ability we have , that we’ve shown just lately, and we’ll be more than a match for any team. Especially Blackburn and Fulham.
Unfortunately from what we’ve seen this season we also need referees to do their job properly and honestly as all the above means nothing if that doesn’t happen.
