Reports That Spurs After Newcastle’s Mike Williamson

There are reports that Spurs are looking very closely at Newcastle’s new center-back Mike Williamson.

Mike Williamson – challenges Jason Roberts last night

Newcastle bought Williamson for just £1M last January from Portsmouth, and he has been in outstanding form for the Magpies ever since, and has been able to hold down a first team place at the club, in spite of Steven Taylor and Sol Campbell now fit and ready to play.

It looks like Harry Redknapp  is looking for defensive cover with former Newcastle defender Jonathan Woodgate still out with a long term injury, and his football career is probably in jeopardy right now.

The report suggests that Tottenham are willing to pay out about £4M for the Stoke-on-Trent born player, but there’s no way Newcastle will let the 27 year-old go anywhere, because he’s still improving, as he gets more and more PL games.

Indeed,  if Steven Taylor does not want to sign a new contract, and that becomes obvious in  January,  then we may see Steven being transferred out, so Newcastle at least get something for the local lad, although we think Steven doesn’t want to leave Newcastle.

We hope Steven doesn’t want to leave Newcastle.

As far as Mike Williamson is concerned – he’s going nowhere.

Comments welcome.

No way especially for 4m and saylors contract not yet sorted (unless its a straight swap with bassong with 4m cash to us.)

Nonetheless, I was a bit surprised by hughtons selection for blackburn, thought he would have rotated the squad around abit, having played the last game only a couple of days before. The team for blackburn seems out of sorts, with basic mistakes made. IMO the main reason for this is due to us being tired. Resting some players for blackburn for them to be fit for fulham should be a better choice.

Nonetheless, keeping in mind our main goal this season (prem survival), and with us still in 5th position, we should not panic.

Interesting to see what team hughtons gonna put out for fulham though, hope its still 442 nonetheless. I would rather us attacking and try to win then 541 and try to get some result, thats for sure.

    bring on fulham I say!

probably sell him for 7mill give kadar his chance and buy a much needed right sided playmaker.(with speed). routledge isnt good enough and barton isnt fast enough.joey should be in the middle.nolan should play up front .he has no legs but an eye for goal.

In my opinion, Williamson is a future England International.

Having had little premiere league experience, Williamson has been very stable for Newcastle.

Newcastle United has to stop selling its top defenders.

Newcastle sold Woodgate because he was injury prone. That is fair.

Newcastle sold Bassong because the team got relegated. That is fair.

What good reason do we have to sell Williamson?
We must stop dismantling our teams. Instead, we should keep hold of our key players and have them serve Newcastle for longer periods of time.

Can’t stand fat sam, but he knows how to set-up a team to be hard to beat & use every tactic they can to frustrate & spoil the game. The problem is thats lots of other teams are going to come to SJP and do the same thing & we still lack that extra bit of flair to break these teams down.

    What reports?

Stop discussing press speculation, gossip, and outright attempts to destabilise NUFC by certain partisan journalists.

    Let’s keep it real!

Hope not, Willo has been very solid since we signed him so NO way. Would sell S.Taylor though as i doubt his contract talks will improve.
and like a few of the guys have already mentioned he will be sitting on the bench behind king, dawson, kaboul, bass. we gave him the opportunity to play every week and i think he is very happy with the toon army.
    bloody spurs!

if I was not sold to Williamson, is a defense that creates a lot of their peers confiansa now sold if we should hire a defense that has quality and cost less than four million impoible something almost the only thing that costs less four million Phillippe paths is very good defender but prone to many injuries, if williamson is sold, my option would be to hire Phillippe paths 26 with price of three million euros and keep steven taylor.
