Andy Carroll is not surprisingly attracting attention from some big clubs in England, because of his great start to the Premier League, where he stands as top scorer with 7 goals so far this season.
Andy Carroll – this lad is going nowhere
There are reports today that Tottenham are interested and “inside information” they mention suggests that Andy will have to leave the Newcastle area to fulfill his potential, because of the trouble he’s getting into on Tyneside.
And London will not be an even bigger temptation for Andy?
Give us a break – -if that’s not pure paper talk then we don’t know what is.
But it isn’t surprising that Tottenham, Liverpool and even Man United are said to be interested in the 6’4″ local striker, and Spurs are said to be preparing a bid of around £10M for Andy in January.
But £10M is nowhere near the value of Andy, although Spurs are said to be trying to tempt Newcastle further, with a part exchange deal involving Robbie Keane.
Now let’s think about this – a young 21 year striker, who is currently the top scorer in the PL, for Robbie Keane, who cannot get his game at Tottenham, and is now 30 years old and his best days are very likely behind him.
Hardly a good deal for Newcastle, whose strategy in any case is to only buy younger players, and the above sounds like even more silly paper talk.
We’re not surprised that big clubs are interested in the exciting and charismatic Newcastle striker, but if Newcastle know what they are doing, there’s absolutely no way they will sell their local hero.
