Kazenga LuaLua Breaks Ankle At Brighton – Loan Ends

Newcastle’s on-loan winger Kazenga LuaLua will be out for up to 10 weeks, after breaking his ankle playing for Brighton on Saturday.

Kazenga LuaLua – on loan at Brighton – breaks his ankle

So because of the injury, Kazenga’s loan spell at Brighton has come to an unfortunate and premature end, after the 19 year-old suffered the injury during Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Hartlepool United.

Gus Poyet, the Brighton manager said today:

“This is a major blow as Kaz has been in excellent form for us this season and at times he’s been our match-winner,”

“We will liaise with Newcastle and their medical staff and I hope we see Kaz back in Albion colors before the season ends.”

LuaLua’s initial loan spell was slated to end on January 3rd, but Brighton hope to bring the promising winger back to the south coast, once he is fit again.

Kazenga played 11 times for Brighton this time around and scored four goals, which were the first four goals he ever scored in first class football, although Newcastle fans have seen the youngster score some screamers in Reserve team matches.

In LuaLua’s previous loan spell earlier this year, he again appeared 11 times for the Seagulls, but with no goals, and the fact that Newcastle manager Chris Hughton had asked him in August to add goals to his game, the youngster has done very well indeed.

Another youngster at Newcastle who was asked to score more goals last December, which he did,  is now in the England squad – 21 year-old Andy Carroll.

So it pays to listen to Chris Hughton – when Chris talks – players listen. 😀

Kazenga is highly regarded at Newcastle, and we’ll have to wait and see if Chris can use him at Newcastle when he recovers – which looks like it will be around the beginning of February.

And even though Brighton lost in the league on Saturday, for only the second time this season, they still remain top of  League One, and are 6 points clear of Charlton Athletic in second place, and also have a much superior goal difference.

According to Newcastle’s official website, it is a leg break (fibula) not ankle.

If he has indeed been sent back to Newcastle, well done Brighton, use our player, get his leg broken then send him back, at the same time have the brass neck to say once he is mended we may have him back again. Poyet your generosity is overwhelming!

It’s just good business to put in an injury clause, Mags. You don’t want to pay wages for a player who isn’t even yours while he’s sitting in the physio room.
