Hughton – Carroll Doubtful For Bolton Game – Never Mind France

We hope that the Newcastle medics and England medics are in full agreement on the injury status of Andy Carroll.

Chris Hughton – Andy doubtful for Bolton game

Some surprising comments today from Newcastle manager Chris Hughton, who says that Andy remains a doubt for the important game at Bolton on Saturday.

But there was news last night,  that after a scan was performed on Andy’s groin  at 5:00 pm yesterday afternoon, the results were such that Andy is expected to train with the England squad this morning, and that could well come as a surprise to the Newcastle manager.

Chris Hughton still thinks Andy will have no chance of playing tomorrow night for England:

“He was assessed by us after Fulham on Sunday and felt no different to Saturday night.” “He is with England because it is the right thing to do and part of the protocol.””From our feelings he has to be doubtful for Bolton.”

“And if we had a game on Wednesday it certainly would be the case that he wouldn’t be playing.” “The most important thing for us is of course him playing in a black and white strip.”

“We have got to make sure that we look after him this week to give him any chance of the weekend.” “That will be assessed over the next couple of days. Possibly he’ll have that chance, but maybe not.”

“He is a playing in very confident mood.” “He has added parts to his game that we have asked of him and of course the ultimate as a center forward is scoring goals.” “We have said that he couldn’t have done any more and I think it is very much an honor for him to be picked in that squad.”

The Newcastle medical team will be in full communication with the England medics, and it could well be that Andy’s groin has improved immensely over the last couple of days – and that would explain why he may still play some part tomorrow night.

But if Andy does play, and injures his groin again, watch for Chris to be just a little bit annoyed, to say the least.

Yes, even Chris Hughton will be angry if that happens.

The bottom line in all of this, is if  there’s any doubts about Andy, Newcastle should not allow him to play for England tomorrow night, even though we know the lad is so  keen for his first England cap.

It will be a disgrace if he plays for England and he’s still not fully fit.

I remember before the season kicked off and plenty on here were saying he wouldn’t even get into double figures scoring in the EPL and now he seems flavour of the month with what seems like the whole country talking about him!

No disrespect to Carroll who has been immense for Newcastle, but this just about sums up how dire England is – they get a new lad in for the first ever time with the seniors, he is crocked and its only a friendly but that doesn’t stop out (Italian) team manager racking up the pressure by stating wor lad is ‘the future of the England team’ before he has even kicked a ball.
Even if Andy scores a hat-trick against France, its still unprofessional and a squad in desperation.
