We think Chris Hughton could well be the perfect manager for Andy Carroll.
Chris Hughton – nobody getting carried away with this man in charge
With everything the 21 year-old has achieved in this last year, he may get too big for his boots, but not under Chris Hughton.
Chris is the expert at keeping his players centered and grounded, and not let them get too high when things are going great, and not let them get too low when things are not going so great.
And as Chris has said today, it’s the same for all players individually too, and they must be able to handle the good times, as well as the barren times.
They must be able to handle the inevitable ups and downs of the game of football.
This is what Chris said today:
“It’s something you don’t think about.” “You can’t afford to think about those things and the reason you don’t think about them is you know what the game is.”
“At this moment, he is on a high. He is playing very well, he has made his England debut – but he is a striker and strikers will go through barren spells where perhaps they are not playing so well and where they are not scoring goals.”
“I know the ups and downs of a player, but in particular a striker, so you can’t afford to think about those things.” “At the moment, we have to make the most of the form he is in.”
There’s no chance that Andy will get carried away with his own success, as long as Chris is his manager. And Hughton has proved in his interviews after the games, that he’s cool whether the side has won or whether they have lost.
The only crack in that facade was when Chris was interviewed following the 5-1 demolition of Sunderland, a few weeks back – the biggest Newcastle win since December of 1955.
During that interview, we noticed very clearly that Chris just couldn’t help smiling all the way through.
Come on Chris – get a grip! 😀
