Shola Ameobi Back In Training – Could Play At Bolton

There was a doubt about whether Shola Ameobi will be fit to play at the Reebok tomorrow.

Shola Ameobi – back in training

And reflecting on Shola Ameobi’s fitness yesterday, Chris Hughton had said the following:

“We’re still assessing Shola and he will be touch and go.” “We haven’t ruled him out yet.”

But good news today is that Shola returned to training yesterday, so he could well be in the frame for tomorrow’s game at the Reebok, where it would be great if Newcastle can return to their winning ways.

Newcastle have only a single point from their last couple of games against two mediocre sides in Blackburn Rovers and Fulham, and were perhaps a little unlucky to not get the win last Saturday against the Cottagers.

It looks like Andy Carroll has suffered no set-backs since his England debut on Wednesday night, so the question now is what kind of team formation will Chris Hughton start tomorrow afternoon.

We think he will go 4-5-1 because with Cheick Tiote missing through suspension for this game, Chris will want to ensure Newcastle are competitive in central midfield.

So we would expect Shola to be on the bench tomorrow, but it will be good news if Shola’s hamstring problems have now cleared up.

We’ll bring out our Match Preview on the Bolton game later today.

I was actually hoping that Shola was to be sold in the summer as I didnt think he was premiership quality. But today I hold my hand up and say I WAS WRONG!

He has been very good this season, hasnt played to many games but he has shown quality when hes played. Well done #23 !

Name the bloke then so we can launch abuse at him in January, otherwise clam up man, its not big and its not clever. Stick to Facts, or go back to your X box for your fantasies.

    Play Lovenkrands with Carroll.
I have said it before that Lovenkrands needs a couple of games in a spin to get startet and to build up his confidence. Lovenkrands can score in the PL just give him a decent chance to prove it

    ToonRuz……. R U a Keeganite perhaps?
How many Champions League games have you been to? (and not on FIFA 08 or Playstation ha ha ha )
How many Fairs cup games have you been to? Texaco Cup?
    Anglo Italian?

The last game I went to has no bearing whatsoever on how much shite you publish. KEEP IT REAL. Andy Carroll is a geordie and will not be going anywhere. Why would he want to do what Roque Santa Cruz is doing?

With Barton and Tiote missing there’s no way we can match Bolton in midfield. Better to play to our strengths and that means, if fit, Shola AND Carroll. At least that frees up Nolan to drop deeper. Lovenkrands has to be the one to miss out.
Smith, Guthrie and Jonas to make up 4 with Nolan.

Either that or draft in Campbell to play 5 at the back. Not sure I fancy Colo or Williamson against the big fella.

I heard that rumour too toonruz. It was floating around about 3 or 4 weeks ago, and if the urban myth is to be believed, it originated in the toon dressing room as a ‘smoke and mirrors’ move to get people talking about something other than AC being a big fan of the Prodigy’s ‘Smack my bitch up’!. The version I heard aledgedly came from one of the senior playing staff, who for legal reasons I can not name, so lets call him Nevin Kolan for now. Believe me son, there has been no deal made for AC by anybody.

hmmm … the comments above kept me thinking … like everyone else … how much money would be enough for another club to prize away AC ?

lol G. Good stuff. Anyway, I agree with sweden77 on the Ameobi mystery. Yes, he can be so frustrating, but this year, with AC up front, looks and is dangerous. My suggestion? Don’t play him until fully fit. I suspect, maybe, that’s why he sometimes plays half ass, worried about a knock he is carrying
