Are Newcastle Interested In Barnsley Winger?

There are reports today that Newcastle United are just one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in Barnsley winger Adam Hammill.

Adam Hammill – while on loan at Blackpool

The Daily Star is reporting that Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle is keen to take Hammill to the Reebok Stadium, and they then say that Owen will have to battle Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic for the player.

We didn’t even realize that Newcastle were interested in Hammill, and of course it could just be paper talk.

The 22 year-old former Liverpool trainee played six times for the England U19 side back in 2006-2007,  but is said to be in outstanding form this season at Oakwell.

The 5’10” player who can play on either wing or up front as a striker, and has been on loan at Dunfermline, Southampton and Blackpool, before joining Barnsley permanently from Liverpool last year.

Adam has played 25 times with 3 goals for Barnsley, and in his career so far, he has played 94 first class games with 5 goals.

We have no idea whether Newcastle are interested in this player.

He has scored some great goals this season it would be a good signing if we could get him cheap

At 5 goals in 94 games, he’s hardly got rocket-launchers for boots has he?

Love that we are signing Benny. And think we should try the same thing with Anderson. If that also works out we have to world beaters on our hands for a small fee and who are both young. Hughton knows how to handle them and unfortunately we will have to have some players move over if we are to progress

Three goals for Barnsley? He’s scored seven so far this season.

Apparently he’s got a £500k release clause – which is why a few Premier League clubs are sniffing around (that and his current form).
