Steven Taylor – Playing With Sol Campbell Would Be Fantastic

Whenever there is disappointment with players missing games, this time because of discipline problems, it always opens up a chance for somebody else.

Steven Taylor – anxious to play against Chelsea on Sunday
When one door is closed another is opened, is another way of  putting it.

And with Coloccini and Williamson suspended for the next three games against Chelsea at home, WBA away and Liverpool at home, it looks like Sol Campbell and Steven Taylor will get their chance, and maybe Hungarian Tamas Kadar too.

Steven Taylor has hardly played this year, and his last game was last January at home to WBA before he had his knee injury, which was then followed in July with the bad shoulder injury he picked up at Carlisle.

It seems that Steven is desperate to get back into that first team, and you can hardly blame him, and the local lad thinks it would be great if he is paired up with the former England great – Sol Campbell:

“I’m available for selection. I’m fit, and I’ve bided my time for the past few games. Now I’m hoping to get my chance.”

“All you can do it wait for your chance and wait for the gaffer to pick you and if I do get my chance I’ll look forward to it. I want to do my best for this club.”

“We’ve got fantastic defenders at the club and that’s been proved with Fabricio and Mike doing well this season.”

“Playing with Sol would be fantastic. We played in the reserves against Man City last week and I had a good partnership with him in a 1-0 win, so it would be good if we get the opportunity.”

Newcastle fans will have to hope that the two of them can indeed form a good partnership at the back for the Magpies, and this is their big chances to make a claim to a starting position at Newcastle, and they’ll have at least three games to do that.

The game when Coloccini and Williamson can return will be the game at Birmingham on 18th December, and it will be interesting to see who the two central defenders will be for Newcastle in that game.

But first things first, and we have to hope that Steven and Sol both have solid games on Sunday against the Premier League Champions Chelsea, who are one of the best sides in Europe.

To be honest, I actually think defence is our best department at the moment.

We have Jose Enrique who has been very strong in left back. At right back, Danny Simpson look like a real bargain for us and may eventually indeed become an England international.

At centreback, we have Colo, Williamson, Campbell and Steven Taylor, all of which can hold their own pretty well. They are not the best, but are able to produce solid individual performances.

In relation to our midfield, it will be excellent if we sign Krancjar for our right wing. With HBA back in action, we’ll have a midfield of HBA, Barton, Tiote and Krancjar. Surely this 4 midfielders are better than the Evertons and Aston Villas.

And just another random thought, how do you think a strike force comprising of Obafemi Martins and Andy Carroll will look ? Awesome.

Ugh don’t talk about Oba please. We were lucky to get the money we did for him.

If Taylor plays well a few chants for him to get shot of Stretford would not go amiss.

It’s funny as this forum was calling for his head not long ago….

Personally think Campbell will get annihalated by the likes of Kalou and Malouda, Torres etc etc etc
