We didn’t think too much of Bolton Wanderer striker Johan Elmander, until this season that is.
Johan Elmander – Newcastle interested in £3.5M striker?
When Bolton signed the player for around £8.5M in the summer of 2008, he seemed way overpriced, but since Owen Coyle took over at Bolton last January, he’s got Johan scoring those goals, and he has 8 goals in the Premier League in just 14 league games so far this season.
Couple that with the fact that Johan’s contract runs out next summer, and there will be more than a few clubs interested in how the contract negotiations proceed in the next couple of months.
Obviously Owen Coyle will want to sign the Swede for an additional stay at the Reebok, but it could be that Johan himself wants to test the transfer waters.
If Elmander doesn’t agree to a new contract by January, he could well be put on the transfer list, so that Bolton can recuperate some of the fee they paid to Toulouse over two years ago.
Newcastle are said to be interested, but there again we are reported to be interested in almost any player that comes on the market.
But at Newcastle we already have three big physical strikers at the club in Andy Carroll, Shola Ameobi and the young Nile Ranger, so we’d be surprised if another big striker was at the top of Chris Hughton’s transfer targets.
What do you think?

Comment #2We are interested in any player who costs nowt and asks for peanut butter sandwiches for tea. Elmander would cost money and the fat man will not give Hoots any proper dosh. The fat man expects Hoots to buy players offering a jar of peanut butter to clubs. Dream on fat man. Hoots is doing a decent job (his long term prospects at the club are not good)while being totally undermined by Cashley.

Comment #4He won`t be free and it`s only this season that he`s showed anything, last season he couldn`t get into the side. Coyle can`t be sure about him as at 28 he`s only been offered a 1 year contract after this season.
Anyway don`t like him especially getting Wills banned for going down like a GIRL!!

Comment #7Elmander until this season I thought was hugely over rated, but when we played BW, he tore us apart. Finally playing like a forward that costs that much. I wouldn’t say no to him at the club.

Comment #8I think we have done bad transfer businesses in the past (hopefully the lessons are learned), but Bolton signed Elmander in 2008 for 8,5mil.£ and only for two-year contract?
Terrible.

Comment #10In response to partizanovec (great name!) – no, BWFC did not sign him for 2 years but the stanndard 3 years for an untested yet talented european striker. If only we’s signed the great man that is Xisco!
You say terrible.
The best I can come up with for your defenders last week is effin w*ank. You ought to be embarrassed.
Give me one reason why Elmander would switch to playing for a team full of has-beens and no-marks?

Comment #12he’s fcuked – no doubt you’ll pay £5 million for the privilege of him hobbling around for the next 3 (2?) years of his career though.
Anyone know how Kieron Dyer is doing? Could do with an update! Great player

Comment #14Whitearmy sounds like a Mackem in a brothel, managed to score in there, now he reckons he’s a stud 😉 You’s totally steamrollered us the other week, aye, but just you wait until it comes back round mate! When you have a club that has some soul, by all means come back and have some discussion. Otherwise, go and have a kickabout to “I FEEEEEL GOOD, NA NANA NA NA NANA NA!” in t’cobble streets eh?
Learn how to be humble, you ignorant, pre-pubescent twerp.
Oh, and Kieron Dyer’s doing shit, that’s why we flogged him daan saaf for a profit.

Haha 😆
I think Bolton will be the next Wimbledon. Have a good, little run, but eventually the money catches up with them (£100 million debts!) and they fold.
Then York Wanderers are created.
It’s the future I tells ya! 😉

Comment #16humility like playing that shite monkees song after your biggest win for, probably, ever. True class.
And if you’re (as it should be, but I’m sure you don’t care) talking about soul, look at the cash spunked on your miserable, laughable lot over the past 20 years compared to some. Say..Bolton. One of 12 football league founder members.
Now, let’s leave it there barcode arsewipes.

Comment #19I’m not particularly convinced on a player who hasn’t done anything for 2 years in england, then scores 8 goals and is ‘hot property’. no thanks.
Don’t say it too loudly – But is Wenger under pressure http://wp.me/p1cykJ-2u
