Taylor Close To Signing Contract – England Close On World Cup

Reports tonight are leaking out, that say it looks like Steven Taylor may be ready to sign his new improved contract to stay on Tyneside.

Steven Taylor – sign the contract Geordie boy

Obviously Steven has read our report this morning that it’s time for him to make a decision, and it’s got to be his decision alone, and time is running out – and he’ll have to decide quickly, and certainly before the end of December.

We have no idea if these reports are true, but we’ve always liked Steven as a player – simply because he can do a good job for the club, and his heart has always been on Tyneside.

But there’s little doubt the club have made an all court press to try to get Steven tied up, especially after his fine performance on Sunday against the PL Champions, which was his first start for 10 months, and he did very well considering he must have been a little rusty.

There will be a meeting between the club and Steven’s agent Paul Stretford this Friday, at which point the new formal offer will be presented.

It would be simply terrific if Steven signs the new contract, and if he can do it this week, he can then celebrate with 3 points at West Brom on Sunday.

Here’s hoping.

The three wise men, Beckham, Prince William and PM David Cameron in Zurich today

And after watching Sky Sports tonight, it looks like England are back in with a more than decent chance of getting the 2018 World Cup, but if they do, then there’s one man they will need to thank – and thank a lot – David Beckham.

It’s amazing how this lad has grown up and matured in front of our eyes over the last 12 years, since his sending off in the World Cup back in 1998, and he’s been a great diplomat for England these last few days in Zurich.

The latest British betting odds make England almost a joint favorite tonight with Russia, with Spain trailing way behind.

But it could well be that Vladamir Putin’s bizarre statement today, which contained some biting comments, along with his failure to attend the proceedings, could hurt the Russian bid.

Here’s hoping.

    Let’s hope so! 😀

Oh, wait, no. He’s done what every footballer ever has done and asked for more money than he deserves.

Castrate him, burn him at the stake, etc, etc *rolls eyes*

Yeah I think enrique is more of a priority, hes one of the best LB’s in the league imo, sometimes he looks a bit lazy on the ball but other then that im yet to see a winger beat him 1 on 1, he even out muscled Drogba a few times on Sunday

also, the release of agent fees in conjunction to Taylor coming close to signing a new deal.. coincidence? or maybe a clever little ploy by MA to show Taylor what agents are really after; not the best interests of their clients

al, every team has to publish their costs of agent fees around now. It’s got nothing to do with hoaxes and brimstone 😉

Also I think Enrique’s contract will do itself in the end. We love him. He loves us. And he’s got another season after this to sign with us

Id be very very disappointed if he doesnt sign this contract thats on offer. Can you name a replacement whilst keeping all circumstances (fee, wage, ability to settle) who would justify not doing all we can to tie him down.

Its no suprise the contract talks restarted after Steven started at Chelsea which he was solid, i think he felt a bit left out of affairs which he really was but this showing has left some food for though for Chris about who is his starting CB tbh CB spots are a demanding place so a good rotation would be good for us with our defenders, i hope he signs he is still a gerodie but hopefully this shows he has a future he and hopefully he lowered his demands from the silly ammont i heard last time!

Of course it’s good news! Although he’s a little out of shape now, he’s our most promising defender. Campbell will be gone next year, Williamson has his moments, and Collocini will never be re-signed when his contract runs out. I say sign him for whatever he wants as long as under 50.

HTL I think you might find that since MA is the outright owner of the club and the club is no longer a plc, they do not have to post annual accounts and any financial statements anymore.

I am sure there will be others on this blog that can confirm this or shoot me down in flames.

It’s been a while since we can lose not 1 but 2 central defenders and still have very decent replacements. In truth, Hughton’s signings have been, spot on, one more reason to concentrate on CH’s contract over anybody else’s. Even though some of u criticised his positive comments about squad players (see ‘Besty’ Xisco etc), that IS good man-management and an effort to keep all happy. Other matter: Sorry to rant on about this, does anyone have actual statistics how many (ok, how few) kilometres Shola runs (ok, walks) per game?

Cyprus – probably less than every other team player, thats why he’s called Strola.. lol

Btw, where you from in Cyprus??

As for Saylor, if he signs all good & well but he should be signing because of his love of the club, not because of money, especially as it’s been reported that Cessepool are offering him £75k a week if he goes there…. can’t see it really as there owner has already said, no big signing & wants to get there wage bill down, so how can they afford £75k a week for an unknown quantity in their team???
I think our center pairing will end up being Saylor & Williamson, as Colo’s wages are too high for him to get a new contract with us!!

Something I would like to clear up if possible, the Daily fail is reporting that Saylor is currently on £40k a week wages,…. now from what I remember, didn’t he get a wage increase from £15k to £35k to match what Milner had been given some 3 seasons ago to keep him happy back when we didnt have anyone else iin the CB position???

I rate Enrique as our best player alongside Carroll. I think these two could walk into most Premierleague sides.
They are so important for us, alongside Barton and the trio are vital.

Williamson is pants, Tiote, Ban Arfa, El Toro, Taylor, Joey, Carroll are the real talent in the side.
Fortunately Jonas works well with Toro and we have yet to see what Gosling has to offer.
What about Nolan ? yeah ok him too.
The rest hmmm! like all clubs you got the good , the bad and the ugly, you call it !
