There is some bad news tonight because on Skybet Alan Pardew has shortened to 8/15 on, and Martin Jol is now 3-1.
Alan Pardew – this would be a surprising choice by Newcastle
We just cannot believe that Newcastle would appoint Alan Pardew as Newcastle manager, after sacking Chris Hughton.
Can somebody explain to us what Alan Pardew has done in football management that even remotely qualifies him for the Newcastle job?
We’re sorry, but this would be on pathetic appointment by Newcastle United – we are hoping this is just not true.
He wasn’t good enough for Southampton or Charlton Athletic – never mind Newcastle
But maybe there was talk with Pardew before Hughton was actually given the boot, to ensure that somebody was available to take over within the week.
If it is Pardew, it will hardly be a popular appointment with Newcastle fans – that’s for sure.
Alan has a meager 4 votes out of 237 cast so far in our poll between the three managers supposedly being interviewed by Newcastle, and Jol has 189 – so far.
We’d give Alan Pardew 12 months at Newcastle at most if he’s appointed – but hope Mike Ashley doesn’t make a second terrible mistake this week.
Mike’s already made far too many mistakes in his tenure on Tyneside – will he never learn?
Comments welcome.

Comment #41All I can assume is that Ashley has now found another “mug” who will do the job at low cost. Hughton had won the right to pitch for a new contract, paying the going rate.
What odds on Pardew being roundly booed at the weekend, even if he’s only in the stand with a watching brief, prior to signing.

Comment #42“The poor performance at West Brom on Sunday was without several first team players”
and two just return defenders.
Looking the pictures. CH took us up and created such a good place for the lads to play football.
Just not good enough.
I would like to see which “highly experience and etc manager” will be taking over.
Everyone would like to have a better manager, of course.

The once great institution at the heart of every North East community has been destroyed and humiliated by the incompetant and selfish.
Mike Ashley has made a mockery of 120 years of NUFC.
Once the life blood of the North East and proud working class background. The chance to mix it with the middle class and win across the country. Offering hope, pride and above all a reason. Has become the play thing of a selfish boy.
No longer can NUFC fans and players wear the shirt with the stealy knowledge that we had earnt the respect across England. We are now just a ‘thing’, no longer a ‘reason’.

What only 4 mackem’s on the site? 😆
Over the last 2 years I’ve taught myself to keep a distance from the club because of Ashley, even now I’m gutted and cannot understand what is happening but that’s NUFC under Ashley’s ownership.
Ashley has been a cancer @ SJP, nearly everything he’s touched here has been questionable, luckily for him CH fell into his lap and turned things around but yet again Ashley want’s to destroy the hard work done by CH over the last 18 month’s.
Beyond belief!

Comment #55Pardew is a championship manager so why go backwards? he cannot be the reason FatAshley sacked Chris! FatAshley must of had someone is mind from the Summer or even the last few days, he must of been told about the avalabality of a certain client and thus reacted by firing Chris. It has to be Jol what his agent said was probably rubbish you know agents saying “he will never leave spain” then next week he is the the EPL etc.. From those 3 menthioned, who are not better than hughton in anyway and this all seems very pointless or getting rid of a good manager for a good-ish manager. Anyway if its anyone like Curb and Pardew there is a reason they still have no job, because they are poor managers. I just wonder if this was a ploy to get someone else, FatAshley had to fire Chris to show this “Person” that he can have the posistion, this “Person” may STILL be at a club because if FatAshley knew the guy they could of got this wrapped up by tonight to give time for Liverpool match! but this seems like they want someone by end of the weekend maybe this is the person hasnt yet left his club!

Comment #59This whole sorry episode smacks of one thing – player sales. Bear with me. Players like manager. Manager likes players. Players on heavy salaries contracts due for renewal (Barton, Enrique). Said players are playing well so will expect at least same money again. Owner without an excuse to sell in current climate. Needs to foster unrest. Sacks popular manager. Players unrest. Out of contract players choose to run contracts down resulting in removal of high earners. Big saleable assets who have been linked with moves to big clubs (Carroll/Chelsea, Williamson/Spurs) are signed up on long-term deals to enable high transfer value. Players are sold citing clubs lack of ambition. Clueless manager with poor record who has no other alternative job offers on horizon (Pardew) accepts executioners role as manager. Owner makes a stack of cash, further insults Geordie nation. Relegation again. The end.

Comment #69Long term this maybe good news. Having just got rid of an excellent manager, the entire team will now want to leave. Demotion down two Leagues with Jokeinhere back at the helm should force our esteemed owner to sell, losing a shed load of money. The rest of the board to then be given an alternative : either resign or have “Sunderland Supporter” (SS) tatooed on their foreheads.
Re-hire CH and watch a steady climb all over again. It will only take four years – start to finish.
Oh! Damn! I just heard CH is Sir Alex’s replacement.
Pardonew, Rubbishley or Jonjo O’Neil.
