Does Rickie Lambert In Mean Andy Carroll Out?

There have been rumors in the press lately that Mike Ashley wants to sell Andy Carroll in January for around £20M.

Rickie Lambert – coming to Newcastle?

So the news that new boss Alan Pardew wants to bring in striker Rickie Lambert from his former club Southampton, has started to be a little bit worrying.

The Newcastle United club have called a press conference for this afternoon, and unless Newcastle jet somebody in from the Moon, then Alan Pardew is expected to be named as the new Newcastle manager.

Pardew apparently wasn’t good enough for League One club Southampton, who sacked him in August, but Mike Ashley thinks he’s the perfect next Newcastle manager – go figure.

There is a report this morning that the 49-year-old could bring in Rickie Lambert of Southampton.

But why do we need another striker?

From the results so fay this season it’s the defense that has let Newcastle down, and strengthening of the back four would seem to be a first priority with central midfield and wingers probably next on the list.

We have some top strikers in Carroll, Lovenkrands, Ameobi, Ranger, Best and Xisco and probably need to unload the last two in that list.

The 28-year-old signed for £1M from Bristol Rovers in 2009, but at 28 does that mean our policy of buying players 26 years old or under has gone own the drain.

The 6’2″ striker has 40 goals in 69 games for Southampton since joining them last year from Bristol Rovers, and at his former club he scored 59 goals in 155 appearances over four seasons.

Why we would need another striker is beyond us, unless of course Mike is going to cash in on the local hero in January.

Comments welcome.

Nope i don’t believe it either. Pics of Pardew in Newcastle hotel seem to concrete the claims he’s our new manager.

please Geordie out there, do something for your belove club, we all the greatest fans in England, so please do something before that bastard destroy our club, Milner, Martin, all gone, don’t want Carroll being the next person being sold. Protest is a good way, last year when KK is sack, that bastard already put out club at market, now it’s time to do it again, we all can sack Mike Ashley.

    ED,
Since when has the defence nedded strengthening? Until the last couple of games we had one of the tightest defences in the league. The last couple of games have been with Makeshift partnerships thrown together, and with totally inept performances in front of them even the best defences in the world would struggle in this league!!!!!!!

We lack a Quality striker to play alongside Carroll.

We lack creation in Midfield. None more obvious than at the weekend where Guthrie, Routledge and Guttierez were carried through 90 mins of football by Tiote!!

I would leave defence as is, 2 decent full backs, 4 not too bad Centre backs.

Maybe address the lack of fullback coverage?

What we need now is Pardew to continue the good work put in by Hughton, build on the team spirit!!!

We absolutely need another striker, one with pace, can control the ball (seems obvious but Ameobi!?) and stick it in the net, we currently have one striker who’s reliable with the ball and in front of goal!

Now having said all that this guy is in the same mould as what we have, we need the opposite. Oh and I too don’t believe this story!

Best and Xisco out, but I still don’t see the need for a striker, more so a League 1 striker.

Its hardly Hoots’ fault that Xisco is still here. If Pardew can get our money back on him, that will impress me.

So we replace England’s No 9 with a league 1 player. Get real . Where does it say Ashley going to sell Carroll Ed? I’ve certainly seen nothing resembling that.

F**k aff if Carroll leaves Nolan leaves that will leave us with nothing but Tiote but if we start playing real bad he will be away to, he’s a good player so one of the big guns could put a bid in 4 him, PARDEW (W@NKER) WILL SURELY RELEGATE US AGAIN AND WE WON’T GET PROMOTED RIGHT AFTER.
