It’s been all change this week, with the sacking of Chris Hughton and then the hiring of Alan Pardew as the new Newcastle manager.
Since Chris had the players locked in the dressing room for an hour after last Sunday’s game at West Brom, we would have said we would see an all out guts and glory effort tomorrow against Liverpool.
Chris would also have realized that Liverpool’s weakness, like Arsenal’s, is their defense and we would have seen Newcastle going all out for goals against Liverpool tomorrow.
But it’s hard to know what Alan Pardew’s take on the game will be tomorrow.
But since Alan knows Newcastle fans like to see open attacking football, we don’t expect to see Alan play as though he was imitating Sam Allardyce.
So let’s hope we see an all out committed display from the lads tomorrow, and if we can get that we could even get a result.
A win against Liverpool on Chris Hughton’s 52nd birthday would be good to see.
After such an emotion draining week – a win would be a fantastic result for the Newcastle side, but there are a few key points for the game, which are different than if Chris had still been on board.
The players must turn up for the game tomorrow, and put all the upheaval of this last week behind them.
The lads must play as though this is a game in which they have a chance of saying thank you to Chris Hughton, for all he did for Newcastle United over the last 34 months, and in particular over the last 16 magical months.
That’s on the attitude (mind) side of things, and as far as the playing side goes our defense must be 10 times better than it was last week, when Sol Campbell looked so uncertain.
So we have to hope it was just one of those days for Sol, because in the previous game against Chelsea he played very well indeed.
Mike Williamson and Fab Coloccini are still suspended, and Ryan Taylor, Dan Gosling, Steve Harper and Ben Arfa are still out injured.
We should be able to welcome back two of our best players tomorrow, in captain Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton, and both will be vital players in tomorrow’s game, just as they are now important players for Alan Pardew.
This is the team we would expect Alan to filed tomorrow in his debut as Newcastle manager
Krul
Simpson Campbell Taylor (S) Enrique
Barton Nolan (c) Tiote Gutierrez
Carroll Ameobi
Subs Soderberg Perch Kadar Guthrie Smith Lovenkrands Ranger
Notice that Xisco and Leon Best are not in that side at all, and they may be expendable in January, if Newcastle can get any takers.
The good news for Newcastle is that Steven Gerrard is not yet fit, and that’s good news, because in this same fixture two years ago he was magnificent in the 5-1 Liverpool mauling of a poor Newcastle side.
And the day after that hammering, Shay Given had just about enough of Mike Ashley’s antics on Tyneside, and requested a transfer and was shipped out to Man City the next month, even though Joe Kinnear at the time did everything he could to keep the Irishman.
If you recall, Mike Ashley had just taken the club off the market on the Sunday morning of that game on 28th December, 2008, and we think that was why Shay finally wanted out.
If Chris had been around this week, we would have said how much more stable things were at Newcastle these days, and then Mike Ashley dropped the bomb on Monday afternoon.
It would be a tough game at the very best of times, against an improving Liverpool side, but it is even tougher now, and we’ll be very happy with anything out of this game tomorrow.
After such a tough and emotion draining week, a win would be absolutely fantastic.
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #3Things I’ve learned over the years I have supported Newcastle Utd and read nufcblog, is how supporters behave. There are wide swings up and down and up again.
I have with great interest and respect followed the owner’s move since he took over a club, that was on the edge to bankrupt.
The aim is clearly to provide stability and economic independence. Newcastle is about to grow from chaos to economic stability. A club that in near future could rests in itself and is in a bigger chape than moust other clubs in best and second league.
The club is in no dept to others than the ovner. Mike Asley have lend Newcastle 1.3 mil pound.
As I se it, we are mowing against better time and stability. I look forward to see the ligt on the other side of the tunnel. Personely I cant understand, why suporters are so angry. Why shood MA have other than good intension. Newcastle Utd is our club — and Mikes. It will be nesseserry to contiliu strangening our team and selling players, who not have premier league standard. We have not won in the last 6 matches, so I do not expect too much against Liverpool.
Our new manager must prove his worth, but I expect nothing but stability and performance, that leads to, that we survive in the premier league. Good luck from a supporter in the Faroes.

Comment #4ranger should figure in for sure but i’d also like to see lovenkrands get a good run out. his late goal might of boosted his confidence even if it was a tap in.

Comment #6alright people, been reading this blog for a while and felt it was the right time to get amongst it. Obviously i agree that MA is a horrid letch of a man but he seems to thrive on our misery, it makes him happy when our worlds are falling apart. It bothers him not one bit that we all despise him. This is what i’m gonna do, f#@kin erase him from my brain and concentrate on the team, get behind pardew without even considering he may have had anything to do with CH’s sacking and hope the team stick together and crack on. All the players are professionals and pardews a half decent manager, the only thing thats gonna send us down is if we continue to make an issue of this and allow the media to drag this out for the next 2 months. CH was a godsend but he ain’t here no more, MA & Alan Partridge are going nowhere. And Ed, write a thread on the rise of Andy Carroll -start to present day. Cheers us all the F@~k up.

Comment #9I’m hoping Ap asks which palyers are too in shock from the CH deal to play tomorrow. Let them get their heads settled, and use those who are not so emotionally involved.
I’d venture that if Barton & Nolan are back in the squad and playing, NUFC will give Liverpool are real run for the points. If those two sit, look out!

Comment #10@BeeGuy I am with you there; without Barton & Nolan our midfield is too lightweight, no chance of a win.

Comment #15Stay away. Your presence keeps Ashley in place and he loves taking the piss out of the club and the supporters. He will gladly write off 200 million to torment you all. He still has a thousand million to live off. We cannot get rid of him financially but we can embarrass him to clear off. An empty stadium would kill him off. Your faithful support means the fat man can keep taking the piss. Do you not see that you are taking the piss out of yourselves? STAY AWAY. We can cope with relegation if that is what is needed. We will come back stronger but it may take a few years. I’ll go to Grimsby away when he is gone but will never go to tomorrow,s game. See the bigger picture. Tomorrows result really does not matter. This is a living death at the moment.

The money is not that important to him. Its your PRESENCE he relies upon. Take that away temporarily and the solitude destroys him.

Comment #19The rest of you talking about formations and players coming and going are delusional. None of it matters. It seems to me that Ashley could sell the whole god damn team and play eleven 12 year olds and you would still turn up “because there is nothing we can do and we are loyal.” Bollocks. There is something we can do to get rid of him and loyalty should fall short of taking the piss out of yourselves.
