Transfer Activity Now Almost Certain For January

Chris Hughton said a number of times before he left, that he was happy with the squad and there would be no transfer activity this January.

Alan Pardew – must do well in transfer market

But we have to think that now Alan Pardew is at the club, there will be some, and maybe fairly significant too.

For one thing if the news is true about Steven Taylor, the local lad will be shipped out for as much as we can get for him – but we’ll be lucky to get £4M because his contract runs out in June.

It’s not nice to see a local lad leave the club, but we respect Steven to make his own decision, and thank him for his 175 games for the club – he always gave 100% for Newcastle.

And we hear that Rickie Lambert may be coming to Newcastle, and the 28 year old striker is at Alan’s former club,  Southampton.

I talked to my best man yesterday about Rickie, because he still lives in Southampton and is a big supporter – they got beat at home 2-0 to Brentford on Saturday.

The news is he’s physical and strong but not too speedy, and he is useful at free kicks and penalties – but that assessment doesn’t really inspire us that he will be a good buy for the club.

The other news is the Newcastle could go after Marlon Harewood, and we suppose that would be OK – the man gives 100% and has done OK for Blackpool, and he would walk to Newcastle if he was offered a permanent deal.

And then there may be other players move out with Steven – and they could include Leon Best and Xisco, who both seem not to be good enough for Newcastle, although Pardew may want to give Leon some more time.

James Perch could be kept because he’s a decent utility player, who can play anywhere across the back four.

And then there are the loan moves that may be possible, and we’d be very happy to have Landon Donovan or Adam Johnson on loan – or both? In fact we’d be delighted.

Landon can only come until the end of March – because of his MLS commitments, but Adam could play through the end of the season – so maybe Newcastle could get both – but that’s unlikely.

Between the two of them maybe we’d probably prefer Adam – he’s a local lad and he could also stay though the end of the season – but Landon is a great player – no doubt about that.

And one of our favorite players – yes readers are sick of me bringing this up – Seb Larsson of Birmingham – could be available for a free this summer, so could be acquired cheaply in January.

That will depend on how the new manager rates the Swedish International of course.

So it seems that Newcastle will wheel and deal in the transfer market in January, but Alan will have to be spot on with whom he brings in – because one thing that could have counted against Chris Hughton was his acquisition of Perch and Best, and maybe even Wayne Routledge may still not make the grade – but we hope so..

I may have missed a few players out here, since my internet connection went down about 75 minutes ago, and I had to rush to the local McDonalds, and it’s still only 6:30 am over here – to give them the credit it’s AT&T DSL – which I’ve just switched to from Time Warner Road  Runner.

When I called the AT&T  7 by 24 hot line – they said service wouldn’t be available until 6:00 EDT – go figure.

Let us know who you think could be coming and going this January.

It could be an interesting transfer window in January, and if nothing else will be exciting time for Newcastle fans everywhere, and that’s got to be good.

Howay The Lads!!

Rickie Lambert ? Marlon Harewood ? Maybe Graham Carr should come and watch me play 6 a side the neet. Talk about uninspired. Unlikely to spend much. Couple of cheap signings as cover given that Gosling and Ben Arfa might both be back in Jan. Think they’ll try and sell Xisco – good luck there ! Best might leave as might Guthrie, but the latter is doubtful.

i hope we got Seb Larsson, he is a brilliant palyer with a right foot as good as beckham.
i hope we stop buing players from championschip. We need players that could change the game for us if we are down in a match, not players that just fills out our bench.

It’s better said Nervous times as to Exciting times in this coming transfer window. If we lose Steven Taylor and any other first teamer we’re gonna struggle unless they are properly replaced with quality. I for one would be gutted to see Taylor leave us. If he does leave he’ll probably end up in a Spurs shirt. Spurs always nick our best players the cunts.

Hope we only sell Xisco and Best, bring in a replacement striker, hopefully neither Lambert or Harewood though, can’t we aim higher?

Don’t want to see Tayler leave but i wont be too bothered if he does, more chances for Kadar that way.

I’d like to see Seb Larsson come in and Adam Johnson, although I doubt we could get Johnson to come.

Taylor can leave if he likes. We should get shot of Smudge, Best and Xisco. I’d be quite happy to see Perch replaced as well.

My gut feeling is that Lovenkrands will go. Not because he isn’t wanted, just because he isn’t getting much action in the first team. I think we may lose Guthrie for the same reason.

As long as we aren’t buying 28 year old league one strikers, I’ll trust in the good work of Alan Carr. Pardew has shown in the past that he’s not an idiot in the transfer window.

There was talk of Robbie Keane again recently…

It will be interesting how Pardew handles the Taylor situation. Will he even play him again now that we have our best two centre halfs back. I guess we would be looking for about £3m for him but there are a couple of centre backs available ie Wheater of Boro who is a very good player but fell out with strachen. He is still a young lad and could learn a lot from Sol etc, Curtis Davis is another player who may be available but again he doesnt seem to have full filled his potential

Priority should be getting Ben Arfa on a premenent deal. After that, we could maybe look for a good striker but we will probably give the youngsters a change (Krul, Kadar, Donaldson, Lua Lua, Gosling, Vuckic, Ranger etc). All these players would provide decent cover, providing we dont get any long-term injuries to the main players. Hopfully at some point in Janurary we’ll have a good XI and back-up:

    Ben Afra—————————–Jonas

Subs: Krul, S.Taylor, Kadar, Gosling, Vuckic/Lua Lua, Routledge, Ranger.

    Charlie Adam—–£3mill
    Lucciano Becchio—-£2mill
    Adam Johnson—–Loan
    Seb Larsson—-£2mill
    Smith £2mill
    Saylor £2—£3mill
If this happens we`ll be ok, especially with Gos just about ready, Colo and Williams due back, and Benny due March

“Out: Smith £2mill” seems very optimistic. 😉

We need someone other than Barton who can cross the ball from the wing and take set pieces. We’re too dependent on him. Larsson qualifies.

I can’t see Man City loaning out A. Johnson. He’s too valuable for them, even as a spark coming off the bench for the final 20-30 minutes.

Have to agree that Lambert and Harewood would be two distinctly unimpressive signings. I do feel however that this window represents a great oppurtunity to get rid of some dead wood on the team and boost the coffers a bit. Getting rid of Xisco alone would get the money, if not only for the transfer fee then also his wages.

I would love to see us get a striker and a winger. I don’t think Joey should be right wing forever, and Jonas seems to be on a dire run of form atm. Routledge still hasn’t convinced whilst Kaz is still on loan, injured and unproven. Another quality striker to complement Andy, whilst not essential, could give a big boost.

Be interesting to see the role of Carr. If he was the scout who recommended the likes of Tiote then our recent fortune in the transer market could continue, if they were purely down to CH then Pardew’s own success could be interesting. He did have quite a good record at West Ham – Benayoun and Ashton spring to mind, not sure how much Mascherano and Tevez were down to him.

We need another striker and a rigthsided midfielder. Lets go swedish. Elmander and S.Larsson both have contrats running out in the summer and could be bargain buys. They would improve our squad immensely. Larssons crossing and set pieces would be very much appreciated. Also I think elmander would be brilliant with Carroll upfront in a 4-4-2 or just behind Carroll in a 4-2-3-1.

If I had 20 million and could spend what I earned on other players.. I could strengthen the squad by a ten fold and turn newcastle into a top six team. And its as simple as this…

    Ricky Van WolfsWinkle
    Sedyou Doumbia

    Matias Fernandez
    Adam Johnson

    Micha Richards

    Simples 😀
    New squad:

The attacking frce behind that time is too much for most teams to handle.. Also defensively very strong!!
    Veryy attacking:

    I’m sorry but WOWWW!….

ED send this to Alan Pardew… I have just gave him everthing he needs to know!

Ed, you’ve dropped a million off your estimate of Steven Taylor’s fee since yesterday. Post this a couple more times (you know you will!) and it should be about right. If we get 2 million for his 5 month contract I’d be amazed.

And you suppose Harewood and 28year-old Lambert would be ok?? Come on, Ed, if kicking out Hoots and hiring a manager on 5 year contarct signals anything besides insanity, it has to be a degree of ambition.
I’d rather Best and Lovenkrands tbh.

First of all, AP will not be the the man who makes the decisions on who comes and who goes. HTer is a staff for that & Ap will be a part of their decision committee.

Second, this team has 13 or 14 first line players that can make or break a PL game. The team needs depth to cover the starters and push for playing time. At this moment, there is a huge drop-off in performance when one of those first line players are not on the pitch.

If NUFC is going shopping in January, a requirement is for the new man or men to be able to come into a game and not require several games to get up to speed.

I’d like to see cover brought in for Enrique, somebody made a comment yesterday about him looking tired and i agree, you don’t want to be burning the lad out when where not even half way through the season yet! I’d like to see us go for Patrick Van Aanholt from Chelsea he played well for us when we got him on loan and i think he’d be a great asset to our squad.

Donovan and johnson…. YES PLEASE!!! both would be brilliant signings. Remember though Gosling will be fit in January. I think we need a good centre back and maybe another striker. Only problem with th estriker is, I would really love ranger to start playing all the time to help him improve. I’ve said it since I saw him playing in the reserves over aand a half ago that this kid would be good and hes gettin there ….. just like Carroll.

the only way lambert would come in if ameobi went out so i can’t see that and harewood is only linked cos he once said that he was better than tevez i reckon gamiero from lorient is poss cos carr has reportedly watched him alot he is quick, skillfull and only 23. ben arfa won’t be done till the summer donavon on loan is possible if he doesn’t back to everton, taylor out n wheater in n larsson would be a summer thing when he is free

    barton–tiote—nolan–ben arfa(donavon, jonas )

    ———–carroll—gamiero(donavon or ranger)
(donavon playing left till ben arfa fit then going up top if we don’t sign a striker )

    Outs :

    Charlie Adam
    Adam Johnson (Loan)
    Joelyn Lescott (Loan)
    Matt Jarvis
    Micah Richards

Then in the summer get rid of

    Sol Campbell

    And bring in

    Alexandra Pato
    Adam Johnson Perminant deal
    Ricky Van Wolfswinkle
    Phil Jagelka

Team for the rest of the season could look like this

    S Taylor

    Ben Afra

That would excite and do really well. There would be movement, 3 people who can take free kicks and corners. Happy days

Personally I wouldnt have Dunne, with what has happened at Villa, seems like Carroll, Dunne and Barton might not be the best group! Man City will be offloading in Jan for sure and no doubt at the end of the season maybe put a few bids in for these players. Maybe Jo?

Paul P your joking right? Pato? Jagielka? Johnson on a permanent deal? might as well sign a young lad called messi, heard hes ok. turn off FM for a little while. charlie adam wont leave blackpool this season, matt jarvis will be a bit out of our price range, he’s english and will be wanted by bigger teams, micah richards will end up somewhere like man united, we cant automatically think because we’re in the premiership again we have the pull for biggish names, we’re a newly promoted club so we need to look at things realistically

    Alright,ive said this recently.
Sell out Best(Doubt the manage would sell him),Xisco and Steven taylor(if he dont want to stay, let it be),with them,we can get around 4m.
Dont bring Lambert to Newcastle,he sure got a good scoring record but im pretty much sure he would turn out another J.Beckford, whom is find the harsh reality of PL.

    Get Donovan and Adam.J on a loan.(Makes around 2.5m)
    Get keane on a permanent basis.(Around 5-7m)
Also try to get Ben Arfa to sign a deal.(5m).
We could try to snap up Wheater with the rest of money.

Toon Boy – The harsh truth is that we wont get anyone brought through the doors when the transfer window re-opens. More likely to sell as per usual. You can see my point though, if we are to go anywhere as to where this manager wants us to go (Top Six) its players of that quality we need.

As for Harewood, puhleez ! we had him thats why he`s not here now !
Now Larrson or Kranjcar, ok !
Love to see young Coleman @ Everton bombing down the right wing with Toro doing the same on the left, perhaps Moyes would take Smith and S. Taylor for him as it looks as if Taylor is on his way.
So maybe Coleman, Larrson/Kranjcar and Wheater, not too much to ask !
