Anybody who can sack Chris Hughton after the wonderful job he did on Tyneside, and a short six weeks after saying the club would renegotiate his contract at the end of the year, cannot be trusted.
Mike Ashley – we have no idea what this man thinks
Of course this is hardly new news to Newcastle fans about the Newcastle owner Mike Ashley.
Mike has already admitted he lied in the Kevin Keegan affair – when he said it was Kevin who would choose which players would come in, and it wasn’t – it was cockney Dennis Wise – as we now know.
We thought Mike was getting better on Tyneside – we hoped Mike was getting better on Tyneside – but it was simply wishful thinking over the last 16 months.
And of course we were dead wrong – and to us he is now a man not to be trusted – whatever he says.
And with Mike coming out and saying he will not sell Andy Carroll, we want that to be true – but we wont go to the bank on that either.
And Mike’s antics at the game on Saturday with Derek LLambias, when he went wild for each Newcastle goal was odd – to say the very least.
But Andy Carroll himself certainly doesn’t want to move – but if Mike decides he’s going, there’s precious little Andy could do about it – unfortunately.
This is what Andy said today:
“I’m just going to go out there and carry on doing what I’ve been doing so far this season,”
“I’ve always worked towards being where I am now, and want to stay here – it’s as simple as that.”
Let’s wait and see what happens if a big club comes in with a £20M offer for Andy in January.
We’d like Ashley to be very remote from the Newcastle club, but with his seeming interest in getting more hands on at the club – that is very worrisome.
Basically the man is a ticking time bomb, given some of the ridiculous decisions he has made in his tenure as owner of the Newcastle club over the last 42 months.
We’ll not recall them here, because it makes for very depressing reading, and we’re only just recovering from that malady after last week. 😀
Out hope rests fundamentally with the Newcastle players, and with Alan Pardew, if he continues the good start he has made at the club, which we hope he will.
