The game this afternoon at St. Andrew’s has just been called off – just three hours before the game was due to start.
There will likely be some complaints about the game being called off so late as 3,000 Newcastle fans have already arrived in Birmingham. Not good.
The Wigan vs Aston Villa, Liverpool vs Fulham and Arsenal vs Stoke have also been postponed because of heavy snow.
As of now only the Blackburn vs West Ham and the Sunderland vs Bolton game is still on in the Premier League – so at least we can look forward to a Bolton win today. 😀
It seems as though the pitch was OK to play on at Birmingham, but extremely heavy snow meant that police had to close roads leading to the stadium, and it was the club and local authorities who decided to call the game off.
And news that the Birmingham club have confirmed that match tickets already purchased for the game will be valid for the re-arranged fixture, on a date still to be set.
The match being called off is a pity for Newcastle because the lads had an excellent chance of getting a win at St. Andrews this afternoon, but it does give Alan and the boys more time to get accustomed to each other.
Our next game is a week tomorrow at home to Manchester City – another 3 points there obviously.
