Everton Beat Man City – Kolo Toure Misses Newcastle Game

Manchester City wasted a golden opportunity to go top of the Premier League tonight with a 2-1 defeat at home to Everton.

Tim Cahill – got Everton’s first goal after just 3 minutes

That’s the way the Premier League has been this season, with Man City unbeaten in their last 7 games and Everton not having won in their last 7 games, but Everton were the worthy winners tonight, and simply outfought the club that has spent £500M on players in the last 28 months.

Money can’t buy you love and not success on the football field either  it seems.

And even through Everton went down to 10 men in the second half when Victor Anichebe foolishly got himself sent off  after 60 minutes, it was  a great performance by the Everton defense with American goalkeeper Tim Howard in superb form, that gave Everton a well deserved victory.

Everton climb up to 14th position in the table on 21 points, just one point behind Newcastle, who are in 8th position.

And good news for Newcastle in that vice captain Kolo Touré got himself sent off in injury time, and will now miss the game at Newcastle on Boxing day.

But what Everton showed tonight is that Man City can be out-fought and that their defense is not too strong as Everton went 2-0 up after only 19 minutes with good goals from Tim Cahill and Leighton Baines, when the Man City defense seemed to go to sleep.

And Mario Balotelli, their 20 year old Italian striker was taken off in the second half with what looked like a recurrence of his knee injury, and the player may also miss the game with the Magpies this coming weekend.

But what Everton showed tonight is that a number of Man City players do not like the physical game, and an all out passionate performance by Newcastle the day after Christmas could get the lads another 3 points at home.

But Newcastle could do worse than look at Everton’s game plan, which worked perfectly tonight to get the win at Eastlands, against a team the Toffees did the double over last season.

We’ll look for Newcastle to put in another fighting performance on Sunday afternoon, and if the lads can do that, there’s no reason we cannot take all 3 points.

Comments welcome.

Dressing room, Pardew gets the Man. C. line up. Tiote and Barton’s first question. “Is de Jong playing”?

    Get in there.

Score early and they don’t come back.

Could be just about the best time to play them.

    —————————-Krul————————-

    Simpson—-STaylor———Colo——–Enrique

    Barton———-Nolan———-Tiote——-Xisco

    ——————–Ranger——–Carroll————-

The only reason i put Xisco in there is because Jonas has been absolutely horror! Really i don’t know what the hell is wrong with him. He can’t shoot can’t cross, can’t do anything. Xisco played one game this year and that was against Aston Villa, where we won 6 – 0. He came on later in the game and had set up Carroll perfectly for his hatrick. I’m not saying put him in based on one game but he will definitely do better than Jonas.
    1 game = 1 assist
    Just give him another try.

while Nigel de Jong will not play against newcastle, everything is fine, no fence to injure another of us, I do not know who said it was soccer player.
if our team plays like he did against liverpool, I think we can win 2-1 or 3-1.
the source of information Tribalfootball mentions that LEON BEST team would come out in January, and would become middlesbrough player, I would like an exchange between best and leroy lita or kris boyd.
there really is no truth to this news.
    that you know about it?

Having Touré out is a definite plus. Too bad De Jong will be back. He’s a dirty player but he is still very effective for them.

City currently have a better away record than home record. But if the lads at the back can contain Tevez, no small task, I think we can get a point or 3.

Joey needs to be very careful this match. With his rep and the history of the last game any tackle he makes against anyone that is over the top will be seen as payback. He needs to make sure he plays intelligently and stays on his feet.

Pls be reminded that even if Kolo Toure is missing , they have Micar Richard who can easily play CB .
Just afraid that we might under estimate Man city and they became powerful as they need to produce results under Mancini.
What about Adam Johnson , he loves scoring against us and will no doubt will relish his chances .
But all in all , expect the unexpected .

Kolo won’t be as big a miss as his brother Yaya imo who has been pushing forward and scoring a few vital goals for them.

We were cheated out of the game last time we played so we need revenge and had hoped De Jong would have been put out of the team by now! He’s a thug and doesn’t deserve to play the game.

A Johnson is certainly a threat and obviously Tevez, not impressed with many of the rest.
