Newcastle Readying New Deals For Barton and Enrique?

There’s a lot of speculation about Newcastle players possibly leaving in the January transfer market, but that’s only because Newcastle now have several top players in the Premier League.

Jose Enrique – contract run out in the summer of 2012

Both the contracts of Joey Barton and Jose Enrique run out in a short 18 months, since they were both signed on five year deals by big Sam Allardyce in the summer of 2007.

And most Newcastle fans will be hoping the club can extend their deals by say another five years – early next year.

And Alan Pardew is doing the only thing he can,  by saying to anybody who will listen, that he does not want to lose any of the top players currently at the club.

This is what Alan told the Evening Chronicle today:

“I want Joey Barton to stay, it’s as simple as that as far as I’m concerned,”

“There’s obviously going to be clubs interested in him because he’s done so well. But from the DVDs I’ve watched of Newcastle games, you can see how important he is to us. I want him to stay.”

“And that goes for all the other players, like Andy Carroll, who have been linked with other clubs as well. They are not going.”

“We want them to stay here, and that is something that we’re working towards with players who are vulnerable with their contract situations.”

So that last line would suggest that Newcastle are readying new deals for both Barton and Enrique – and if that’s true that would be great!

But then Alan kind of played down his ability to potentially keep some top players, by then saying things would never be 100% certain on keeping any player, which we suppose is always true.

This is what Alan added:

“Of course, you can never say 100% that a player definitely, definitely isn’t going anywhere.”

“Sometimes it is 50% down to the player, whether they want to stay.”

“And part of the reason that I’m confident is that I’ve had conversations with all of the players now and not one wants to leave.”

It’s good to know that not one player wants to leave the club – that says something about the team spirit at the club.

But we think if Alan could unload Leon Best, Xisco and maybe James Perch he would.

And we’d love to think that the powers that be on Tyneside are getting new contracts ready for Joey and Jose.

What do you think?

Not sure about giving Barton five years, he is 28.

But Enrique should be given as long as we can get him to sign up for. When a player comes out on top with a side by side race testing strength and pace against Drogba and keeps up with torres, disposses him and gets away from him, you know hes one hell of a player.

Add that to how much of our play comes through enrique shows how important he is.

Barton is at his peak, I would say extend for three years, Enrique should be offered a five year extention, he is supberb and loves the Toon!
Our best eleven is looking really good now and Pardew will improve this even further with better tactics ie., defending higher up the pitch .

Jose needs a new contract, we cannot let talent like his slip through our fingers.

Barton maybe needs a 2 yr contract with option of a third.

I would offer Enrique, Tiote & Simmo a 5 year extension, then offer Colo, Jonas, Barton & Nolan an extra 3 years, that would then sets us up nicely imo.. 😉

I would rather sell Jonas at a decent price than give him a new contract, he is too inconsistent and is a poor example of a winger.

I’m with Solaidback on those contact extensions. You never know, any one of the older lads could end up like Scholes or Giggsy, playing well into their thirties. 3 Years seems fair for now. They can always be extended.

Extend Enrique’s contract without a shadow of a doubt.

Extend Bartons for an extra couple of years, even if it is with the idea of getting a transfer fee in a couple of years.
I would rather sell him than let him walk away on a free

    as for Jonas
He has gone off the boil and his end product still needs alot of work.
If his play doesn’t pick up in the next few months he might find himself on the bench for the end of the season with Hatem playing on the left.

firstly, i would prefer to think about the contract of steven taylor. he is the one that need the contract as soon as possible… then, after that we can only think about barton, enrique and the others..

Jose Enrique and Joey Barton have to stay!

I would say the essential players to this clubs progress are:

    Jose Enrique
    Joey Barton
    Andy Carroll
    Cheick Tiote
    Tim Krul
    Steven Taylor
    Nile Ranger
    Williamson
    Ben Arfa

That’s 9 players that we cannot lose at all costs.

Near essential are: Simpson and Kadar.

I would like to see Lua Lua play more games and challenge for a place on either wing along with Ben Arfa. We’ll just have to wait till they both come back from long term injuries.

Just a few more signings and we have an excellent first team squad and strong in depth.

We wont resign Collo. He is already on 80gs a week so unless he takes a pay cut he wont sign on. I doubt he will get that pay anywhere but his agent will get a trasnfer through so he gets some bucks.

    henock1989…you’re joking right…?

You would prefer to go back to the days of spending 17million on useless flops than having a team of good, not average, players like nolan, barton, tiote, jose, carroll etc, who play for the shirt every week.

    Get real man!

The last thing NUFC need at this moment is to bring in primadonas like Owen who was a good for nothing mercenaries and blood suckers. 🙂

Are you on laughing gas or what… quality players like Owen, give us a break, yeah he was quality but not when we brought him & the days of wasting £41m on injury prone, overhyped players like Owen are far gone fella… lol

Yes i think that henock1989 has had a few too many!

Owen was never ever a good player for us, cost too much and screwed the club for every penny he could. And the club just sat back and let him! How gullible we were!

As far as new contracts are concened if they do it then they need to do it quick because if they don,t the speculation and rumours will continue till the window closes whenever that is!
