Reports Steven Taylor To Sign New Deal Within 24 Hours

The Evening Chronicle is reporting today that Steven Taylor is on the verge of signing a new five-year contract at St James’ Park.

Steven Taylor – to sign new deal in next 24 hours

And we’ve heard some of this before – so we are really now expecting news to come through soon,  that Steven has indeed singed his new deal -and hopefully we’ll see a smiling Steven Taylor signing the deal.

Taylor’s current contract runs out next June, and there has been report after report over the last few months about whether he would leave or sign – and yes it’s been a little tedious – but we now have to believe the local lad has decided to stay – and we think that’s great news.

And  it will be a  coup for new manager Alan Pardew, who got personally involved in the negotiations, and seems to have been successful in getting the Greenwich-born player to sign his new long-term deal on Tyneside. That’s good for Steven, good for Alan – and good for Newcastle United.

The news is that Steven will sign the news deal in the next 24 hours and certainly before Christmas.

Alan Pardew had said thus yesterday:

“I want to secure Steven because he’s a young center-half, a local lad and he’s done great for the club. You don’t want to lose that.”

“ He has still got a lot of learning to do – he is only a very, very young center-half. I think I can help him in that.”

There were some hints from Steven yesterday that his very bad year in terms of his injury would all come to a nice end – with the hint he would be staying at Newcastle and sign his new contract – which again is for a full 5 years.

A nice Christmas present for the Newcastle fans and we have to think Steven will start against Man City on Sunday, and all we need now is all 3 points.

Howay The Lads!!

@ post 1. So C**p that Chelsea, Liverpool, Manyoo and the Gooners have been talking to his agent about him? Unless you have anything sensible to say, I would suggest thinking before engaging keyboard. By the way, caps lock is not your friend.

Yes come on, the lad has come through the ranks and has been very steady against some of the top strikers in the world.

If we had to buy a centre-back as good as Steven Taylor we’d be paying £8+ million.

He’s local, loves NUFC and I hope he signs.

Now we need Joey to sign an extension, HBA to sign in the summer and Tiote to be given better terms and a longer deal.

    Feliz Navidad a todos.

When he Signs within The Next 24 Hours Then That Will be Great – He is a Loyal NUFC Servant Like Andy Carroll it would Break his heart To Leave Newcastle United. When We Played Fulham may 2009 and we lost he was devastated and there were players who couldent give a Toss and just trotted of to get there wages . Steven was heart Broken – He Has unfinished Business at Newcastle United. Steven Well done and Keep a Clean Sheet against Man City For us.

SIGN ALREADY!!!! Damn tedious just doesn’t sum up this never ending saga. If he signs before Christmas that’s a great present for him and us fans. He has to stay as mentioned above a suitable replacement would cost as in the region of 8M. He’s a future England International, a local lad and has already proved himself against some of the best strikers. He has to be signed along with Ben Arfa.

I am pleased that Alan Pardew is doing his best to tie up our best players and seems to be achieving his goal. Well Done Alan.

Sell up, anything over 5m is a good deal. Taylor has been costing this club more goals than any other player the last 5 years, even if he’s local it’s hard to argue that fact.

Don’t have a go at magpies till death, there’s plenty think taylor is an arrogant so and so, whose positional sense is comical and he has got away with being the white bramble cos he’s a geordie

if a guy can’t sign up for the club he allegedly loves and live on 40k a week, (more than carroll earns) then he can do one. Kadar is a far better prospect.

I dont think we can blame Saylor for the delays. It is hugely publicised what a crook his agent is.

RH, geoff777 puts it far more elequently than I did, so fair enough, but any tool can shout that a player is cr*p with absolutely no basis. It’s a toss up between Colo and ST for the best CB we currently have, so shouting for us not to sign up somebody who will cost millions to replace would be madness. I can’t speak for ST’s arrogance, but the man isn’t paid to be a diplomat, he is paid to be a footballer, which he does in a professional manner, without any off-field controversey. As for positional sense, from what I see, his is better than most CB’s in the Prem league, so if you include yourself in the bracket that thinks his is commical, then you should have gone to specsavers mate. I stand by my comments.

If you want to turn a blind eye to all his errors, that is of course your perrogative.

Show me a CB that doesn’t make errors, and I will show you a fictional character from Roy of the Rovers back. Probs the best CB I have seen in my life was Colin Hendry in a Blackburn shirt, and he made loads of them. Comparing ST to Bramble is a bit like comparing a Ferrari to a Lada isn’t it? Sorry RH, but on this one I feel you are very wrong.
