If John Carver doesn’t get the management job at Sheffield United, then it could be excellent timing for Alan Pardew.
John Carver with the great man himself – Bobby Robson
Alan is looking for somebody to complete his coaching set up at Newcastle, and indeed if he can get the former assistant to the great Bobby Robson, that would be an excellent signing and would be well received by Newcastle fans.
John Carver is currently the caretaker boss at Sheffield United, but the club has only recently asked for permission to speak to Port Vale boss Micky Adams, and of course if Micky was offered the job, he would take it in a New York minute.
That being the case, then John would be out of a job, and what better time to return to Newcastle, his home-town club then to return as another first team coach with Alan Pardew.
Alan would need to offer Carver the Assistant Manager position, which John held in the heady days when Sir Bobby Robson had Newcastle in the European Champions League.
John still has a slight chance of getting the Blades’ manger job, if he can turn in good results, and in his first game in charge Sheffield beat the high flying Swansea 1-0 at home, and another win today against Hull City at home, may give him a chance of the job.
But if John is disappointed and doesn’t get the job in Sheffield, then it’s very likely Alan Pardew would bring him home, and as we said – that would be a very welcome addition to Alan’s coaching staff.
We don’t know how true this story is, and it seems to be from the Daily Mail, but the timing is such that it could certainly happen and soon too.
