Ben Arfa At Newcastle Game Yesterday – To Sign Full Time?

News today that Hatem Ben Arfa was at the game against Manchester City yesterday at St. James’ Park.

Ben Arfa – he was at the game yesterday – in town to sign new deal?
We certainly hope so!!

Ben Arfa would have been amazed as any Newcastle fan, with the way the lads went behind 2-0 so early in the game, but then  he would have been delighted with they way Newcastle  fought back – in yet another never-say-die performance.

But ultimately Newcastle got absolutely nothing out of the game.

Ben Arfa is due back in training in about five weeks, and from what we can tell the double break has healed very well,  and the French International  is well on his way back, getting the very best of treatment in the South of France.

But we wonder, with Steven Taylor’s contract being tied up today, whether Ben Arfa will be in Newcastle to potentially OK a permanent deal,  that would bring him to Tyneside for the next five years.

If Mike Ashley wants to get into the Newcastle fans good books, and we have no idea if that’s any priority for the Londoner, he could tie up the 23 year-old on a long term deal, and that would delight the Newcastle United fans.

In fact we know very very little about Mike Ashley, because he never ever says anything.

We have to think that new manager Alan Pardew has made it a priority to sign top players Steven Taylor, Ben Arfa, Joey Barton  and Jose Enrique on long term deals at the club.

He’s got one in the bank in Steven Taylor,  and the next signing could be the Frenchman, followed by new contracts for Joey and Jose, say  within the next couple of months.

If Alan can do that,  then he’s made a good start to keep the top players on Tyneside.

Comments welcome.

Get Ben Arfa signed up and you will achieve two thinks. It’ll appease the fans and it will give Jonas an almighty kick up the arse.

Yeah lets sign HBA on a 5 year deal & then watch has he turns out to be another Viana or Luque who does well in Europe & then fails after a couple of games in the PL… mmmm

Personally I like the guys ability but I’ve not seen enough of him in the PL to warrant signing him of a massive contract for it to fail, I’ve seen way, way too many of them happen at the Toon over the years, so I would just keep it as is for now & let him get back to fitness & then have a run of games to prove that he’s not another European flop like some we’re had… 🙁

I know I’m gonna get shot down for this but thats my opinion sorry 😉

I have to agree with Solaidback.
Ben Arfa we were told, had a trerrible rep for falling out with his own shadow at all previous clubs. He arrives in Toon, says the usual platitudes and has a couple of showings with one tremendous goal and since his unfortunate injury there’s been WAY too much instant ‘love-in’ (60s expression) for the lad.
As it is, he is recovering well and we have an option on him we can exercise any time until the end of the season. I truly hope all the hype is fully justified, but there’s no rush to sign him. Furthermore, I hate to see players built up into legends only to make life harder on them and on the fans. Sorry to say, but let’s be honest, if he wasn’t ‘damaged goods’ to some extent and plays as well as you read here, he would not be transferring from Marseille to NUFC in the first place.
Believe me., I’m not against the kid, I am for him. But please give him some slack.

Perhaps you should change your “nom de plume” to , “so pessimistic”.
Sav= same, positivity is not exactly your forte either, or had`nt you noticed ?
We have already seen him play, plus he`s a French International, whos reputation preceeded his arrival, so we don`t have to worry about his skills as a player.
The guy has picked Newcastle as his choice of EPL club, he`s aware of the history of both Ginola and Robert here and seems happy to be at the club.
He` also a bargain @ 5m. quid, so why go looking for something negative to say about the guy ?
he`s probably going to sign and become a full time player, so get behind both he and the side.

agreed chuck most clubs take a risk with any footballer.
our own number 9 has had big issues but we still gave him a 5 year deal(very gratefull too).
get this lad tied down even to a 3 or 4 year deal
i think we know what his attributes are going to be

Very talented player! Hope we sign him up.

Getting the best young talent in Europe should be celebrated in my opinion. He wants to play for us, and is happy so it can only be good news. Can’t see many negatives in the story.

Top Top Player .. should be played in the center or a free role as he is a playmaker and world class dribbler ..
Also all his spats at previous clubs were because they didn’t support him .. if he signs for us it’ll be a great start for the club and very good chance to push on in the prem .. or the FA cup ..

also why are people having a go at Guti .. imagine 4-5-1 with the 5 of Arfa – Guti – Routledge, Barton, Tiote in midfield.. .. .. one of the best midfields in the country for dribbling, pace and skill, not to mention defending~(tiote) …..
