Newcastle Must Make Transition From Santa Claus To Scrooge

The Newcastle side will have another chance to become giant-killers tomorrow night at White Hart Lane, after gifting Man City a two goal start in the first four minutes yesterday.

This guy wasn’t even in the Newcastle side yesterday
But they still gave away two gifts to Man City so early in the game!

Alan Pardew probably couldn’t believe his eyes as Newcastle gave Man City two Christmas gifts  very early in the game yesterday, and Santa Claus wasn’t even playing for Newcastle.

But two mistakes by goalkeeper Tim Krul and then by Cheick Tiote led to two quick goals for the visitors, who hardly need gifts these days to win games, especially away from home.

But it seemed that Newcastle took the Christmas season a bit too literally yesterday, and hopefully they have now ended giving out any more  presents for Christmas.

After those two silly goals Newcastle were little short of fantastic, in the way the lads fought back, and gave City everything they could handle at times, especially in that second half.

Not since the days of Bobby Robson have Newcastle had so many never-say-die characters playing for the side – they just never give up!

And manager Alan Pardew is right to say the Newcastle comeback was even sensational at times yesterday.

This is what Alan said today:

“At 2-0 down we had to rely on the character of the group. Outside that first eight minutes we played well. We could have laid down then and been torn apart, but we stood toe to toe with them.”

“The performance after that was sensational at times. We caused them many problems but you can’t give a team of that quality a head start. We were bossing the game when we scored and we had a couple of chances to equalize too.”

We want Newcastle to convert from being Santa Claus to being Scrooge tomorrow night at White Hart Lane, and if the lads can do that, then we may even be able to get a point out of the game.

Howay The Lads!!

ED ! Whats this crap about giant killing ?
Where have spurs been in the last 15 years ?
Also Ed your headlines and comments are tantamount to muck raking at times
Some of the lazy journo’s will love your site
as you seem to promote a lot of rumour and lies and give a voice to the people who like to play the game of unsettling Newcastle United
Perhaps its because you live in another country and don’t feel or hear the effect it has on our area and club..We feel it .
Right now your promoting newspaper gossip about one of our top strikers ..you need to play that down not give them a voice through this site !
You are just as bad as The Newds of the World
Some of the headlines and rumour mongering on your site needs cleaning up .

And the point I started my comments with .
When, when we ever beat or hammered Spurs was it ever deemed to be a giant killing ?

Please think twice about some of your headlines they are not just aggravating comment they are damaging to the club you and I love.

Smith, Guthrie or Ranger in place of Nolan?

Maybe it will be Smith/Guthrie AND Ranger or has Routledge done enough to keep his spot away from home?

…And has Taylor done well enough to keep Williamson on the sidelines?

No finish except for Carroll. We need to see what Gosling can do and Ben Arfa when he is fit as well. I would think Jonas will sit eventually. He is not a goal threat at all. Still not sure what to do with Nolan. He has great spirit but is mainly a goal poacher, a frustrating game for him. We looked a different side when Ranger came on.

GeordieTwo, “Still not sure what to do with Nolan”. Not really your problem. Unless GeordieTwo is Cockney slang for Pardew.

baro please, stop posting these referral links on the blog, this is for football, not finance. I think you are a sound poster on the blog, even though we often disagree, it is amicable enough, but now I have started skipping past your posts because I think its spam. Anyway, rant over. I think we should deffo start with Ranger tomorrow. A physical approach is needed against Harry Rednkapp sides, and I don’t think Rangers work rate will suit their game too well. Nolan we need to keep in the side, because like him or not, he is currently one of the most productive midfielders in the country, and our 2nd top scorer. Go 442 from the off with Ranger and Carroll up front, and put Joey back wide right, and I reckon we will come away with 3 points.

It’s nothing personal mate, it’s just the same thing that drove me away from hotmail, myspace, twitter and facebook. Once one person starts doing it, it turns out every time you think your interested there turns out to be nowt but spam. I would just rather keep the blog exclusive for football mate, thats all. Like I say, no offence intended.

clarkeey if you’re talking about tomorrow, nolan’s injured.

I’d like to see Routledge on the wing and Barton in the midfield with Ranger and Carroll upfront. Barton’s less likely to pop up with a goal but he may be more influential then Nolan when we’ve got the ball.

    Some thoughts:

    – I’ve noticed that every time Routledge have got his chance lately, he has taken it very well. He’s a menace for defenders and he works well defensively. IMO He is a starter.. who we take out is more difficult

-Nolan. I love him. But in some games like against City, he just doesn’t get in there… he works hard but he remains anonymus.

-Nolan should have been taken off instead of Routledge in the City game when Ranger came on.

So the conclusion is that even Nolan should be taken off sometimes even though he is the captain. In the City game it would have been the best move. AP needs to show some guts here.

As for the Tottenham game… I just don’t see how we can win this one.. I’ve seen many T’ham games this season and they have produced some off the best high-tempo football in the EPL so far.. But by all means… please prove me wrong Barton & co 😉

Its time to sit Krul, he displayed some very non-professional mistakes. Give Harper a go again against those Spurs. I like Andy and Nile up top together, two different type of Strikers.

    Today line-up

    Krul

    Simpson-William-Colo- Enrique

    Jonas Tiote Barton Rouledge

    Carroll Ranger

    0. Krul must learn a lesson and he is still better than Harper esp. on shoot-stopping.

    1. Joans needs to be on right becoz he needs to help handle Bale. Simpson simply can’t handle Bale alone. Bale is very strong and good stamina. I can see Jonas can box-up Bale as they are similar type concerning strength. (or Jonas as RB juz like he plays in Argentina ??)).

    2. Rouledge looks fit and he is much faster than Hutton. Better on the left rather vesus Assou-Ekotto.

    3. Enrique can def Lennon very well as we saw before.

    4. Williamson paired up Colo is more solid. Taylor still needs to improve though he juz signed a new contract

    5. Colo will be captain again and he will score for us again !!

    6. With this formation. We can win 1-0/ 2-0 in a tight game.
