Kevin Nolan Will Be A Big Miss Today

Newcastle will be without Shola Ameobi due to his perennial hamstring problem, but the lads will also be without  their influential captain Kevin Nolan, who  is suspended.

Kevin Nolan – misses the game this afternoon through suspension

Kevin picked up his 5th yellow card of the season on Sunday, and will not be available today, so it will be interesting who Alan brings in to replace the 28 year-old Liverpudlian.

Alan Pardew could play in a 4-4-2 formation and bring in the dangerous Nile Ranger to partner Andy Carroll up front,  but we expect Alan to play 4-5-1 and bring in either Smith or Guthrie to replace Nolan in midfield.

But of course Barton and Tiote in central midfield would be strong enough to allow Pardew to play in a more attacking option – but Newcastle have to start picking up some points soon, that’s for sure.

This is what Alan Pardew said today:

“Kevin will be a big miss because of his influence in the dressing room and on the pitch,”

“But we have good players to come in and give someone else an opportunity. We’ll go to Spurs on a positive note.”

“He might be traveling because he’s someone I might want to have with us anyway. I don’t know if I’ll ask him, but I might tell him to come.”

Maybe that statement about being positive, could point to Nile Ranger getting his first start in the Premier League today.

Certainly the Tottenham defense is not the strongest  part of their game, and maybe Allan will see that as a weakness,  and will send the two strong tall strikers in there – to play havoc at the back.

We wouldn’t mind seeing that at all.

Hey lads. Bit of team news for you.. Enrique is out of the game today. He has just posted on his twitter that he is not 100%, therefore they aren’t to risk him.. For me that’s a massive blow! Who’s at LB then? Please God, not perch!

So that’s Jose out, who’s in at left back??

Smudger in for Nolan to help out the defence. Smudger must be as fresh as a daisy and he has to play sometime to justify his £275K a month otherwise it is money down the drain. Come on Smudger lad, show us your old England form!!!!

If that’s the case, Coloccini can play LB as well.
Nolan’s influence will be missed more than his playing contribution. Ranger can block off the keeper and all that staring down the keeper at free-kicks stuff and bother their centrebacks more throughout. Its not rocket science.
We may as well go for the jugular in this one if the defence is B*****ed.
