Do Newcastle Want Wayne Bridge On Loan?

There is news today in the Daily Mail that Newcastle  have made an inquiry to take 30 year-old left-back Wayne Bridge on loan from Manchester City.

Wayne Bridge – on loan to Newcastle?

Wayne Bridge was a transfer target when Bobby Robson managed Newcastle and we even had an £8M bid for the player turned down (2003) by Southampton when he was a lot younger.

But the worrying thing about Wayne these days, is that he’s always injured, and Man City manager Roberto Mancini has often moaned about that.

So we have no idea if this report has any truth in it at all, because Bridge would be a name you could easily link with Newcastle, whether the story is true or not.

The conventional wisdom is that Alan Pardew wants a left back as cover for Jose Enrique, but we doubt whether Wayne Bridge fits into that role.

If he comes to Newcastle on loan, Wayne would hardly get any games at left back,  unless Jose was injured, or unless Alan played him out on the left wing.

Southampton-born Wayne has played 36 times for England with one goal, and has 376 first class club games to his  credit,  with 6 goals.

What do you think about this news?

    Brettoon, think Bridge would have to keep his eye on S. Taylor rather than Carroll.

    We dont need a LB, we have El Toro and Ferguson as back up, not to mention Perch being able to play there too.

    The only Bridge we need is over the Tyne!

    He would cause far too much trouble in the dressing room and is the type of player who would upset moralle.

    @NUFC_Richyg01 and @14Alinufc

    at the moment we only have one first team left back in the squad and that is jose. perch is getting investigated by the police for impersonation of a footballer along side best. Ferguson is good however he is not in the first team and i cant see pardew picking him even tho he should be in the team and kadar is a centre half .

    so bridge would be a good signing because you could play bridge and left back and jose left wing because jose is are best player when he gets on the ball and we need to get him on the ball more and it would solve the left wing problem.

    Don’t think we have a chance of getting him even if we wanted.

    Bridge LB, Enrique LW/LM, Jonas on right, Joey moving out right when necessary.

    Couldn’t be any worse than what have right now.
