Derek LLambias Proud Of The Newcastle Players

It’s not very often you hear anything at all from owner Mike Ashley or Managing Director Derek Llambias, so when they say something I suppose we should publish it – and get it out there.

Mike Ashley with Derek LLambias

Managing Director Derek Llambias, Mike Ashley’s right hand man at Newcastle,  has written in the program notes for tonight’s important game against West Ham, and this is what he had to say:

“We are very pleased by the way our players have taken to the challenges of the Premier League during the first half of the season and while we knew life in this division would be tough, the lads have shown they have a real appetite for it.”

“We enjoyed some memorable highlights here at St James’ Park last year, and the game against Ipswich Town, where we received the Championship trophy, our 6-0 win over Aston Villa and, of course, our derby win over Sunderland are days that will never be forgotten.”

“Now we head into a new year and another exciting 12 months lie ahead. With your continued support, we are confident we can continue to progress in 2011.”

It’s interesting Derek points out the 6-0 win against Aston Villa, in our first home league game in the Premier League this season, and of course the 5-1 pasting of Sunderland, also at home.

Both wins were under previous manager Chris Hughton, and we still have no idea why they sacked him – and yes, we never really know what happened behind the scenes.

But we agree with Derek that the players have been fantastic – not least by  the way they have put the significant disappointment of losing Chris Hughton behind them – and given the new manager Alan Pardew their full support over the last four weeks or so.

We’re proud of the way they’ve maturely reacted to almost every situation this season – and last season too  – come to think of it.

Now to hammer West Ham tonight – that’s the only thing that matters today.

    a debate for anyone interested….

If Alan Pardew didn’t win any of the next 10 games, would Ashley have the balls to sack, or would he stick with him, risking relegation, possibly for his own ego and to prove a point?

I don’t know what would be correct thing for him to do, i just don’t think he’d sack him as it would him admitting a failure, which I think he would be too stubborn to do….

1 question, if he’s so proud of the team and how theyve performed this season – why did you sack Hughton, Derek?

    prick.

Robbie Keane going to Brum for 7million – Wow, Spurs robbed them!
So glad he’s not coming our way, past his best I’m afraid, besides, we’ll have Arfa back soon.

Still think we’ll sign Bentley in some shape or form, probably loan.

Best and Shola to start tonight I think…no proof, just think.

Hey does no one else think we need one or two top defenders? ya the lads are doing ok, but were still leaking goals the hole time. I dont think scoring goals is the problem. I think we would have a savage team if we can sort out that problem. heard liverpool want routhledge for 8 million.

Geez, I hope Spurs dont keep dangling wads in front of Fatty’s face, if they sell Keane, that’s ANOTHER 7million to put towards a Carroll bid…
I’ve seen reports on Sky I think that Spurs have offered £30million for wor Andy – if they have another £7million to play with, would a bid of £35-37million swing it?

For me, it would, hate to say it but it would.
I mean, that large an amount, plus HBA coming back soon and Bentley til the end of the season…
And, if Best, Ranger, Shola and Loven can get the service, they’ll all score, I’m sure of that…
Would we miss Carroll that much, for that much money?

I do not think anyone would offer 37 million for Carroll but if they did then i think we should accept the offer. If Ashley lets Pardew use all the money from the sale then we could bring in quite a few quality players. If he sells and keeps the money then Ashley would be thrown off the Tyne bridge with his wallet tied to his feet lol.

As nufc.com stated – tis suspicious that Carroll is in London still – after a very convenient 1 month lay off. Also it would solve the mystery as to why Pardew was brought in. Wasn’t sure but there could be something brewing with Carroll now hmmm Bentley, Pavlyuchenko + 10mil,, summit like that.

    lmfao@boater

You call Shola a “striker which scores goals”

How long you been a Newcastle fan??

Shola’s strike rate aint that good if you look, you ‘moron’.

And I don’t think that I’m alone in saying I’d drop Shola, just because he scored a tap in at Wigan. In that game, he proved again how dreadful he can be, missing that early sitter, then after his goal, vanishing for the rest of the game.
Ranger, Loven and Best all chase the defenders in possession too, Shola aint nick-named ‘Strola’ for nowt lad…

Now don’t be so rude and think harder before posting such silly insults next time.

    Edd Case,, yawn.

Shola is called strolla because it sounds like shola and denotes a lackadaisical playing style.

Shola’s recent record is good. 7 in 12 this season. 1 in 1 last year. He played well against Wigan, set up team mates with several gilt edged chances and won most things in the air.

I didn’t hear many people complaining about Carroll’s goal against Chelsea. Funny isn’t when Carroll scores a sitter it’s a sitter, when Shola scores it’s an east tap-in.

Your bile, your crass stupidity, your jaundiced playing bashing comments make we want to vomit. You ABSOLUTE fook’n moron.

Toon1978 – I believe boater was talking about me when he called me a moron because I dared to say I’d drop Shola….get this though, lol, because boater says that Shola is a “striker that scores goals”…

If ever there was a completely crap arguement for keeping Shola in a team, boater came up with it, and abused other people too…

Bentley, Pavyluchenko and 10 million for Andy?
    I think I’d be tempted.
Sell Routledge to the Pool for 8 million (if rumours are correct) and replace him with Bentley who is a far better player and we’ll also have 18 million to buy a cracking creative midfielder and quality striker to go alongside Pavyluchenko.
    Have heard of worse scenarios.
