Newcastle Hoping To Bring Someone In Imminently

After the game manager Alan Pardew took the chance to tell everybody that Newcastle were now don to the bar bones with the injuries the side picked up last night.

Alan Pardew – new signing imminent?

It seems that Steven Taylor and Cheick Tiote have hamstring injuries, and Jonas Gutierrez and Leon Best also  picked up knocks last night.

Leon was limping after scoring his third goal last night and was soon replaced by Nile Ranger.

And it seems that Newcastle are hoping to bring in a new signing before the trip to Stevenage on Saturday.

This is what Alan Pardew said today:

“We’re hoping to bring someone in. We’re down to the bare bones – injuries really are stacking up,”

“We had to finish with ten men because of injuries to Steven, Cheick and Jonas. The campaign has been tough and to be honest we’re lacking conditioning because of the training ground.”

“It’s something that we’re looking at but in the meantime we haven’t got a big enough squad to cope with it – we’re really up against it at Stevenage. We need to get a player in before that game.”

We can only think that Newcastle are very close to a new signing, although who that may be – we have no idea, but it would be good if Newcastle can indeed make a good signing before Saturday.

Any ideas who it may be?

By the way – what a day for fans yesterday with Ben Arfa signing on full time  and then Newcastle annihilating West Ham.

Comments welcome.

    Eljero Elia should be targeted.

Wigan are trying to get him on loan and I think we could be more attractive plus his old teammate Tiote could convince him to play opposite Ben arfa.

    Might as well try…

Tiote- Ben Arfa- 5-0 win might interest him.

Why not and by the way I would take Krancjar over Bentley

How are you so sure it will be Bentley?

Knowing our current regime, its alot more likely to be Max Gradil or whatever he was called from leeds.

Looks a good player from what I’ve seen though so I wouldn’t mind.

NOVA, I heard that Elia had a £10m-£15m valuation on his head. I don’t think we’ll be spending that much altogether this window, nevermind on one player.

I’m not a big fan of bentley either like, I have a feeling his attitude may be a problem if he comes here, it could upset the team spirit.

I’d much rather have seb larsson than Bentley.

We should go for Matt Jarvis frm wovles, Chris Eagles frm burnley, swp, or bentley on the other but only on loan to see if they still ave the hunger and ability up front? Id love to see gerivnho frm lillie arrive.

Elia is more of a dream but at 12 million would be a great bit of business these days.

I know he wants the top teams to come in for him but he might have to settle for something else and he seems set to leave by the summers end.

I doubt we could get him but i have a little faith especially if Wigan are going after him.

I sorry to say but I have a little faith in MA who I think might surprise us a bit. I dont think most people expected him to put 5 million out for Arfa already and possible another 5 million for Bentley or someone.

Well of I go to sleep and dream.

But i still dont want Bentley

Anyone else notice the absences of Alan Smith and Wayne Routledge from the squad last night, maybe because they are both being shipped out??

    Smith -> Leeds
    Routledge -> Liverpoo

    What do you think?

Absolutely agree, Bentley is not the player that we need. He has been hopeless at Spurs and as a poor attitude, I would prefer Kranjcar over Bentley anyday.

I dont get why liverpool want routledge.

I’ve never been one of the people to slag him off, and I do reckon the potential is there for him to be a good player, but surely liverpool can do better, especially for the £8m that is being quoted.

I want Bentley here, he is a brilliant player when he puts his mind to it, he is also a brilliant crosser of a ball and IMO that is what we need, wingers who can cross rather than just cut inside.

I’d take Bentley in a heartbeat. Barton’s been awesome out on the right, but his preference is to play in the centre of midfield. Bentley can cross the ball immaculately and if he gets crocked, we’ve always got Barton to go back out there.

I can’t see his attitude being a problem. We have a team that seems to reign players with egos in and bring them back down to earth. I think that the squad itself has more to do with the spirit that we’ve talked so much about over the last year, not Hughton, or Pardew.

I really do think he’d be a good signing.

So you want our best, and £30m rated striker to warm the bench?

Pardew could always just tell the lads to play on the deck when Carrolls on the pitch instead haha.

    NUFC_Richyg01:
good call for team v Stevenage, but I would also give Phil Airey a sniff, maybe on the bench to start with, he will find the step up to the first team a little easier with games under his belt. When you are good enough you are old enough. He has enough promise, and as they say, the goals dont move, and they stay the same size!
Saturday is shop window time, lets not get any more injuries, get the fringe players involved, and move on to round 4.

Just been on a couple of Leeds blogs and they seem to think Smith is going back to them on a 6month loan as a deal for us to get Max Gradel in return we will also be giving them money mind.. If we sign Gradel though we wont be signing bentley i presume although i personally would sign both as gradel can play on the left
