After the game manager Alan Pardew took the chance to tell everybody that Newcastle were now don to the bar bones with the injuries the side picked up last night.
Alan Pardew – new signing imminent?
It seems that Steven Taylor and Cheick Tiote have hamstring injuries, and Jonas Gutierrez and Leon Best also picked up knocks last night.
Leon was limping after scoring his third goal last night and was soon replaced by Nile Ranger.
And it seems that Newcastle are hoping to bring in a new signing before the trip to Stevenage on Saturday.
This is what Alan Pardew said today:
“We’re hoping to bring someone in. We’re down to the bare bones – injuries really are stacking up,”
“We had to finish with ten men because of injuries to Steven, Cheick and Jonas. The campaign has been tough and to be honest we’re lacking conditioning because of the training ground.”
“It’s something that we’re looking at but in the meantime we haven’t got a big enough squad to cope with it – we’re really up against it at Stevenage. We need to get a player in before that game.”
We can only think that Newcastle are very close to a new signing, although who that may be – we have no idea, but it would be good if Newcastle can indeed make a good signing before Saturday.
Any ideas who it may be?
By the way – what a day for fans yesterday with Ben Arfa signing on full time and then Newcastle annihilating West Ham.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41yea AC is lethal but ffs when hes on colo an harper are trying to get assist’s plus carroll doesnt have the ability to be in the right place at the right time aka alan shearer van nistroy sorta player ..Look at the possesion barton added last night ..when carroll is on we depend on him to much ..so all we do is swing it in for anywere an everywere…why you think jonas played so well last night.

Comment #42Yeah mate, but do you honestly not want to play Carroll?
I reckon we could play the exact same style of football we played last night with him in the team, hes got fantastic feet, can hold up the ball and has abit of pace.
All we need to do is break the habit of lumping balls up to him. Not dropping our best player haha.

I’m surprised we’ve heard so little about him as when he signed he was apparently meant to be some french wonderkid.

Comment #52Bentley would be a superb signing, be chuffed to bits.
Also, Gradel from Leeds would be nice, give us a bit of cover on the wings which we certainly need.
These two and a cover for left back and I’ll be pretty pleased with this Transfer Window

Comment #53We need to some pace, but Bentley was awesome for Blackburn, Spurs wern’t classed as idiots at the time when they paid £15 million for him. He’s 26 so anything less than £6 million would be fine for me.

Comment #54And where does this leave Joey “I’m better than Beckham” Barton, if Bentley comes and Ben Arfa is back?

Comment #58We don’t want or need Bentley. he is a prize cock who thinks he is better than he is, and is not a team player. redknapp knows a decent player, he has collected a few good uns at Spurs, and he does not fancy Bentley one bit. Why should we be conned into taking someone elses failed purchases? Next thing will be mentioning Woodgate, and before you all start, he is a crock.

Comment #62i would definitely like to see bentley here, look at what were gettin out of joey when no one else would take him.. granted we had to go through alot of shit to get that, but bentley is nowhere near as bad as what joey was.. i think being involved with a great team spirit might give the lad something to play for, instead of thinkin he will spoil our momentum and team spirit, why not think it can improve being on board?

Comment #65Bentley is a class player if he comes in and gets his head down which he will cos its a new start then we will be in for 10 goal a season midfielder his crossing and free kick ability is only 2nd to beckham and he’s still only 26 would be a real coup if we can pull it off

Comment #66From what I read about Pardew, he is a fantastic man manager, (Leon best as a great example), so maybe he can help Bentley fulfil his potential. I wonder if Kieron Dyer fancies coming back……….. (only kidding lads)

Comment #67If bentley does come in and do the business, I will be happy to be wrong, his free kick expertise is well documented. I just can’t imagine them bringing a film out titled ‘Bend it like Guthrie’………….

Comment #68Bentley is class. Even if his attitude is questionable he is English and young. Has loads of prem experience and knows how to cross a ball. If he’s given a good run of games I think he will rediscover his Blackburn form. I say get him in and get that Ivory Coast player from Leeds (Gradel ?) as well. With those two additions we will have a lot of options and can mix things up. We would have great depth in our team and still it wouldn’t have cost a fortune either.

Comment #69In the past we’ve brought in thugs and tools, but recently we’ve been rehabilitating them. Look at the turn around on Barton, for instance. With the team spirit the way it is, I think we could even reform Bowyer (not that I’d want him back) or De Jong.
