Newcastle Reported After French Moroccan Forward

There is a report in French Daily L’Equipe today, that Newcastle United are one of the clubs who have targeted Moroccan forward Youssef El Arabi.

Youssef El Arabi – can play on either wing or as a striker

The player currently plays for his home town club, French Ligue 1 side,  Stade Malherbe Caen, who are currently third bottom of the French league.

The 23-year-old 6’1″ Moroccan forward has so far scored 10 goals this season in 16 games, and is the current Ligue 1 second-leading scorer, and he is attracting interest from clubs in Europe.

Youssef usually plays on the right wing, but he can play in a number of different postilions including on the left wing or as a striker.

The Morocco international is contracted to Caen until 2013 and is said to be valued at around £4M, although that seems a rather high valuation.

The player has played 53 times for Caen with 21 goals,  and has so far played 3 times for Morocco, and made his debt for his country only last September.

Wolfsburg, Marseille and PSG are also said to be interested in the forward.

I would rather pay £4M for this lad than the touted £5M for Sears of West Ham.

Sounds like a good versatile player, and could solve our problems down the Right wing.

to be honest, if we are to go after a striker we need a bellamy type, one that can get in behind defences and take on players with pace.

shearer and bellamy under robson were amazing

one of your subscribers wrote about this earlier ed i was wondering how true it was, if marseille and psg are after him he must be turning heads big time in france why do we always let the cat out of the bag it makes it so much harder to complete the transfer as others start sniffing around and if they can offer european football we are beasically screwed we need to be quiet about these things cause the ben arfa thing went on so long i dont know how we pulled it off.

Oba and Carroll would be brilliant together, but i think when ben arfa is back fit we should play a 4 3 3 formation with tiote holding, then nolan and barton infront, with ben arfa and YANICK DJALO from sporting lisbon support big andy, chelsea style?

he’s class, bags of skills n tricks, almost ALWAYS beats his man and often goes past 2 or 3 with his mazy runs. The fact that he scores lotsa goals is just a bonus IMO as he’s not exactly a strker in th traditional sense.

i would still go SWP as we have absolutly no depth on wings, either that or ferguson in at left back and stick jose on wing.
i feel as thiugh Nolan isnt playing that well at the moment IMO.
I would put GOSLING in the middle against the scum

i remember when we were linked with sessegnon, when playing for le mans. top clubs in france showed interest aswell, and psg stepped in, look at him now. we must try to be one step ahead regarding talent.

good and serious scouting generates serious money.

the same goes for mbia, adil from lille, remy and gomis. im not to sure about this one( and its probably just another rumour) but i trust in carr.
but i think we should go for ccc- and pl-players for an instant impact….

    he sounds exciting though

Well it’s what we splashed in the summer & around the amount we splashed last Jan too & I think the reason is, if you add the Northern Rock sponsorship & the Puma shirt deal together, maybe thats what we have in the way of transfer money for the season… 😉

it’s not about “splashing cash”. its about finding those rough diamonds before others realize the players potential. one prime example is gylfi sigurdsson from reading. im gutted we didnt follow up our interest, look what he’s doing in bundesliga now with hoffenheim. if it’s in the lower leagues doesnt really matter. we bought bassong for nothing and we made a 7.5.m£ profit. (yes, i know metz played in ligue 1 at the time)

10 goals in 16 is good for a team like Cean and tbh if he can play winger as well the versitility of playing at ST and LW/RW would be a great asset to have, the way he plays on the pitch is soooooooo similar to Ben Arfa, nice quick feet and good range off shooting, also can use his head, seems to be a player who likes to play 1-2’s to built the play up then make a late run into the box he isnt a target man which we already have in Carrol. being French speaking he shall fit in with Arfa so i feel from what i’ve seen with Sears i would prefer Youssef El Arabi over him he has a better package and better scoring record.

Brilliant this would be – him, Arfa and Larsson can finally make Jonas and Routledge shift their weight because they have not been up to standard this season. If you have his sort of record at a club struggling like Caen, then it would be a brilliant deal to make.

Also, this may sound completely unrelated but I signed El Arabi on FIFA 11 back in October, and last year when I got Football Manager, I signed up Ben Arfa and Tiote, so maybe this could happen… Probably not, but seriously, the mackems have loads of injury problems starting now, ours are clearing up in time. HWTL!!!!!

to be perfectly honest lads why don’t we just look at the left side of midfield and right wing cos we can stick ben arfa up there with carroll worth a decent shout played there for marseille and for france his last appearance for france was as a forward and he scored so it frees up the problem pardew would have of which midfielders do I play i think matt taylor from bolton would be a brilliant buy lb and left wing cover think he’d gel with jose great because im losing my patience with jonas because he does all the hard work beating the man then knocking a shit ball in!!!
