Check Tiote Appeal Against Suspension Is Rejected

2:45 pm, Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 213 Comments

As we expected, Newcastle’s appeal against Cheick Tiote’s three match suspension has been turned down.

Cheick Tiote – 3 match ban stands

At a Regulatory Commission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal from Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote was rejected.

As a result, Tiote’s three match suspension will remain in place, and he will now miss the games at Sunderland, at home to Spurs and away at Fulham, and he will be huge loss to the Newcastle side.

Tiote was shown a red card during Newcastle’s FA Cup Third Round tie against Stevenage on Saturday on 8th January.

These suspensions are hardly ever overturned, unless there has been an obvious mistake by the referee, and that didn’t look to be the case on Saturday, and we gave the appeal only a 5% chance of success – at best.

So this verdict is hardly surprising – unfortunately.

Comments welcome.

I think this is a bit ridiculous to be honest. The FA is the most biased organisation in the footballing world.

Inch perfect tackle (admittedly hard), the player who he took down even said he didn’t touch him – utter joke.

  • 2 bentoon // Jan 11, 2011 at 2:48 PM

Can anyone link me to a video of his tackle, i havnt even seen it yet!

Wonder how much quinny paid for that decision to the FA Cocks!

  • 5 Edd Case // Jan 11, 2011 at 2:49 PM

Great, there’s a smack in the face for you.

It was a reckless challenge though, you can’t leap into a tackle like that these days, the law says any challenge that could ‘potentially’ injure an opposition player can be a red card offence.

I’m not suprised, just increases the need for us to get in Larsson I hope as if not, it’ll be either Routledge on the right, Barton in the middle, or Smith back in the middle and Barton on the right…
Larsson on the right, Barton, Nolan and Jonas would really only feel like a midfield capable of overpowering the unwashed.

  • 6 Vinicinhos // Jan 11, 2011 at 2:55 PM

Thumb, here in Brazil, is a biased organisation too.

Bad for us, Tiote will be missed.Alan Smith? Guthrie?Nooooooo

    Gutted! Big loss 🙁

hopefully we will see dan gosling at some point to!!

  • 8 NUFC_Richyg01 // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:03 PM

Hopefully Larsson will sign up so we can go with:

    Larsson * Barton * Nolan * Jonas

How far off fitness is Ryan Taylor?

  • 10 toon1986 // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:08 PM

Alan smith my arse! He should never get a shirt again! His performance was shocking at Stevenage, he brings nothing to the team! He’s too slow, he can’t pass, He lunges into tackles! He’s just a liability !! Barton Nolan centre jonas left routledge/Larson right

  • 11 toonfan09 // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:12 PM

i dont get this the referee admitted he was wrong their player said tiote never touched him and thought red was harsh and Graham poll said it was a yellow and they still say it was red what is the point of the reviewing system if the fa dont recinded decisions

  • 12 The Leazus End // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:14 PM

should put smith, perch xsisco, in a car and type f***ff in there sat nav ( never want to see them in a black and white shirt again)

  • 13 Geordie-Gerrard7 // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:16 PM

Even if it got put down for a yellow he would have been out for 2 games for 10 yellows.

  • 14 DanToon // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:19 PM

    Larsson Barton Nolan Jonas

My midfield for the Scum match…

  • 15 dave 1961 // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:20 PM

9 yellow he was on 8

  • 16 partizanovec // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:21 PM

If Larssin deal is not done soon, and with Jonas doubtful, things are not looking rosy in our midfield.

  • 17 partizanovec // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:21 PM

    * Larsson of course

  • 18 BillBurch // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:26 PM

It’s a big loss for sure but Tiote must learn some control. He seems to pick up yellow cards quite easily.

  • 19 BeeGuy // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:28 PM

This is starting to sound like American football. Bump a guy in the head and you may be find tens of thousands of dollars. Some troll at the FA was likely rubbing his hands to get Tiote for his 10th card and when Tiote beat the clock on New Year’s, this became the venue for FA to get him off the pitch. Cheick needs to get with Barton and find the fine line that keeps him out of any more trouble than one would expect.

  • 20 RossGellar // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:32 PM

If our home kit was red or blue, it would have been overturned in a heartbeat.

  • 21 The Leazus End // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:34 PM

the larsson deal seems to be dragging a bit a we need as many soldiers as possible for our battle on sunday

  • 22 Moreno // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:38 PM

John Barnes said on espn coverage that

“any midfielder who is going to stop tackling like that for fear of being sent off should hang up his boots now”

Not only that, feels more of an injustice that Ben Arfa was sidelined for a double leg break horror challenge and there wasnt even a free kick given.

  • 23 Jay K // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:49 PM

Areet guys larsson still in there along wit another fella been out came bk lambias has been in for about an hour o so

  • 25 jesus was a geordie // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:51 PM

Tiote said himself – I didn’t touch the man I only touched the ball.

The opposition player admitted to Kevin Nolan that Tiote didn’t touch him.

Video evidence shows he didn’t touch the man.

    It is absolutely ridiculous decision!

  • 26 boater // Jan 11, 2011 at 3:51 PM

You are kidding yourself saying it’s a wrong decision. The FA have to set examples. It’s technically a fair tackle but looks violent, they had to uphold it. As stresses, you have to question pardew’s decision in bringing him on.

  • 27 coolcatcarter89 // Jan 11, 2011 at 4:01 PM

Boater button it. It didn’t look violent, this was the perfect opportunity for the F.A to clarify what is a malicious, cowards tackle (Gerrard the twits) and what is a honest, robust, sporting tackle (Cheicks). That would have been an example to set, however here we are again perplexed by the benighted imbeciles that govern our sport.

  • 28 Nufcboy88 // Jan 11, 2011 at 4:06 PM

every one is suggestin the midfield against the mackems with larsson included?? its not a done deal and i cant see it even happening now, if we were talkin to the player yesterday with the fee agreed why has no more come of it? No announcement of a medical, nothing, its all gone quiet. I cant see it happenin. hope im proved wrong tho!

  • 29 baro // Jan 11, 2011 at 4:06 PM

Dam FA! They had to take our best player out. So from now on I am guessing there is no such thing as a clean slide tackle? Exactly what Tiote was.

  • 30 baro // Jan 11, 2011 at 4:08 PM

    Craigcoozy where are you?

  • 32 Malaysian Toon // Jan 11, 2011 at 4:11 PM

Bullsh*t! De Jong tackle on Ben Arfa was ‘perfectly fine’. Tiote who didn’t even touch the guy stands as a 3 match ban. What utter rubbish from the FA. Absolutely gutted. And wish Jonas still struggling and no update on the Larsson deal. Think we are gonna have to go with:

    Guthrie — Barton—- Nolan— Routledge

  • 33 Toon1978 // Jan 11, 2011 at 4:14 PM

I think it was a great tackle but Tiote had 2 feet off the ground and that is what the F.A. have probably looked at. TBH if we do not get Larrson i would not be to disappointed. If Larrson can play for the Brummies for ten thousand pounds a week then why should NUFC pay double if that to be true???? Larrson will be swapping for a far superior club and should be running up here to wear the shirt. If that is not the case then forget him. He is no Solano so he can fox trot oscar lol. Look for someone who wants to play for us not just come to double their wages. We do not need money grabbing gits we have had enough of them at our club having said that the deal may be held up for other reasons who knows.

    Please retain these numbers

    FA prem League….Fiona Williams..0207-8649000

You might want to Jam the switchboard up most days ?

Give them plenty of Admin by emailing them also..they have to answer you

    NOW heres a story

I spoke to John Stanley At the FA Prem League
on the subject of Nigel De Jong’s criminal tackle on Hatem Ben Arfa

He told me under Fifa rules that they cant take action because the referee seen it and did not think there was anything wrong !

I said that he is a serial Leg breaker and he Has not even received a booking or a 3 match ban etc

I also Mentioned the fourth official and Fans that were close to the criminal act

There could have been evidence from them

    Heres a scenario

I go to my place of work
I have an argument with a co worker
I run at him and break his nose
Im in my place of work just like Ben Arfa was that day
Just like De Jong was that day when he broke HBA’s Leg In 2 places

Heres What John Stanley told me at the FA prem

HE Stated : They could not investigate but if any person that witnessed the attack on the player reports it to police then they have to investigate

So if any Newcastle united Supporter was there at the City OF Manchester stadium and reports it now they will have to investigate it

So if anyone reading this was there could you please report it ..It is the only way that the serial leg breaker De Jong will be punished for what he did that day ..all it takes is one phone call to the police if you witnessed it

And remember John Stanley at the FA Prem told me this its official !!! I have just sent the Fa An email which I will reproduce here ..I have also spent about one hour on the Phone talking to both the FA and The FA prem ..

As Newcastle fans please do not now sit back and think this decision making by the mystical disciplinary panel is going to go away ..

They are corrupt and we don’t ever know who they are ..they need to be transparent and open as to who they are

Chiek Tiote’s Ban is a disgrace as was Mike Williamson’s

Nigel De Jong has no punishment at all !!!!!!

And a player (Tiote) has a 3 match ban for not even touching the man !

The world s gone mad or the FA is Corrupt

    which one is it ?

Please report to the police what you seen of Nigel De Jong’s Tackle if you were there. The police will have to investigate it and it will give the FA hell and plenty of admin and bad publicity

One Phone Call And the police will do the rest.
And remember I was told this BY John Stanley at the FA prem

Heres a copy of the email i sent to them today

Mike Williamson’s retrospective three match ban was a disgrace as is now Chiek Tiote’s ..Williamsons would only have been a booking for obstruction if the ref had seen it .

And Tiotie’s was a big mistake by the ref as he never touched the other player involved ..his opponent in the challenge stated that he had never touched him .

The ref told Alan Pardew that he had made a mistake. So how come Tiotie has now got a 3 match ban ,,he never touched the player and never raised his boot. There was no intention to harm the player or gain an advantage by foul means.
I am a customer of FA football and feel like I am bieng cheated out of my money with decisions like this .

I am going to walk away from football as think the FA are Corrupt

Please inform me as a customer who the members of the disciplinary panel are that sits in on decisions on Newcastle United both for the Mike Williamso’n verdict and the Chiek Tiotie Verdict.

I ask this as I think the FA should be open and transparent on this issue , If your not then you are corrupt to the core and I will walk away from Football as will my Family ..

I will also publish your answer or your Non Answer to the above questions .

Pardew to blame 100% not the FA

He should never have played him in that game. He only needs 2 yellows for a suspension anyway.

Pardew has dropped his first clanger as our manager as far as I’m concerned playing Barton, Nolan or Tiote…..idiot

  • 62 baro // Jan 11, 2011 at 5:11 PM

Vs Sunderland I’d have the lineup above if we have no new signings, which would be very stupid. Shane Ferguson looks even better and better every time he comes on. He is our future. Steven Taylor, Andy Carroll have successfullly broken through now its Shane Ferguson time. To me Jonas can out run as many people as he wants but he can’t cross from that left handed side why not put him back on the right hand side. Put Nile Ranger towards the second half so he can burn out opposing defenses. Bring Dan Gosling on for his debut, and hopefully introduce a new signing.

  • 63 Mo Drysdale // Jan 11, 2011 at 5:11 PM

Got to go with a 5 man midfield on Sunday to be competative.

    1. Colo could do a great job as holding midfield, he has a great deal of confidance on the ball, and could protect the defence

    2. If Larson isn’t signed then we have to go with Routledge, he has got to have a blinder sooner or later.

    3. If we end up having to chase the game must go 4-3-3

This would scare the living daylights out of the scum defence, but brings some risk.

  • 64 AndyE93 // Jan 11, 2011 at 5:17 PM

I don’t really care who starts for us against the scum as long as big Shola is! They are Sh!t scared of him and he always seems to score against them. Also baro which games are you talking about ferguson he’s only played 3 times in pretty low key games against under strength or poor opposition. I think it may be a bit early to throw him in in a game as big as this one.

  • 65 fungus44 // Jan 11, 2011 at 5:18 PM

bet now if liverpool appeal gerared,s red card that will be unnulled,i recon fa have it in for us after the Ben Afra case ,be cause that chalage was worse than tiote,s and money talk,s as they say.

  • 66 Richy_c90 // Jan 11, 2011 at 5:20 PM

All this talk about us having players missing, but Sunderland do too. Cattermole and Onouha are 50/50 with Cattermole unlikely. Welbeck and Meyler are out definetly, not sure about Zenden, he was sent off but they had a FA cup match since then. Welbeck has been their best player for the last few games, without Cattermole they will struggle a lot in the middle – Nolan and Barton will be able to handle it fine – Henderson is a young lad and couldn’t handle it as St James’ Park.

  • 69 ONLINE GUY // Jan 11, 2011 at 5:26 PM

    Heres An observation

When Peter Beardsley Used a sliding Challenge to win the ball, he was never ever sent off for it.
He used to win the ball cleanly, even though he would be showing studs . You cant not show studs in a sliding challenge because your Ankles will not articulate back over ..Agreed?.

    Physical impossibility

    Just like Tiotie’s challenge

Won the Ball cleanly and Did not even touch the man

It was a sliding challenge and you just cant not show studs doing what is indeed a legal way to win the ball because ankles don’t go back and articulate to a point where you cant show your feet to be on the front end of our bloody legs ! but the FA think Different..According to them the laws of Nature have changed when they make a decision

There is no doubt about it Newcastle United Football club are A Target of the FA. Why ?

Because we dared to question them with a letter Asking them to investigate De Jong’s Tackle on Hatem Ben Arfa.

When the vice president of Fifa Said it was a disgrace

When the president of Uefa said the tackle was a disgrace

When the Dutch National Team Manager Said it was a disgrace and Banned De Jong from the Holland team

When His own countrymen said the tackle was a criminal act

And Cruyff Said it was a disgrace .

What do the English FA do about it ?

Now tell me Newcastle United are not victims of a vendetta at the FA .

  • 70 Rotonda heights // Jan 11, 2011 at 5:28 PM

  • 72 Thump // Jan 11, 2011 at 5:28 PM

Aye Richy, Zenden is banned (or at least he was last I heard).

The problem here is that Tioté is basically the glue that holds the midfield together (as well as providing a 5th man in defence when required). I think our midfield basically relies on him.

I hope Guthrie is ahead of Smith in the pecking order because there’s no way he should be involved short of a few minutes at the end of the game (at most).

  • 73 Mo Drysdale // Jan 11, 2011 at 5:31 PM

On topic – Just watched the link and have viewed the tackle for 1st time if thats a red card then there would be 25 red cards every wkd in premier league.

The EPL is known for its physicality, Tiote got the ball and the player ran on through his momentum and for the FA to not even consider the appeal is a joke, the fat rich men hate this club and its beginning to get on me nerves. Thought Sepp Blatter was bad. HAHA how can the FA comment.

We r screwed without Tiote n Carroll we need investment, then we have depth and then move on towards security.

I really think the Toon should let all hell loose in the media about this.

I understand that Tiote gets a red card because of the lack of control in the tackle, but the FA can’t have it both ways. Either Tiote and De Jong should get reds, or neither.

Surely there was never an easier to illustrate case of the FA using one rule for some teams and another for the rest.

When the FA say that they can’t do anything about the De Jong tackle because the referee didn’t report it, it is just a cop out. Who employs the referee? If he insists on persisting with an obviously wrong decision why wasn’t he suspended?

  • 86 Edd Case // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:30 PM

I wish you lot would stop bitchin’ about Tiote’s red card.

If that challenge was by Cattermole against one of our lot, you’d be calling for his head.

Simple fact, it looked worse than it was, but in this day and age, that is enough.
If Tiote had been a fraction late (or early) in that challenge, it could have been a leg-breaker – that’s what the FA will have looked at.

I honest, much as it pains me, can’t really complain about it.

  • 87 DarloGeordie // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:31 PM

Pavel 4 some reason they have different rules for NUFC, maybe a biased view but its true i am really starting to think that the FA has something against us lot…

p.s the tackle was fair and excellent, timed to perfection and got the whole ball it was the opposition players momentum that took him down. (no broken bones or injuries)

  • 88 DarloGeordie // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:34 PM

EDD CASE – “if Tiote had been a fraction late (or early) in that challenge, it could have been a leg-breaker”

The fact that it was timed to perfection, no broken bones, no injuries and he got the ball and not the man surely defines the perfect tackle. so u r wrong matey

BREAKING NEWS: Larsson deal off due to unable to agree personal terms—Radio Newcastle 15 mins ago.
Comes to something when £1.5 mill player from Brum can`t agree terms!!
ED, why do I need to keep relogging in every couple of days, sometimes having to renew password— it`s a pain!!

  • 90 DanNUFC // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:40 PM

Edd Case, surely that goes for most slide tackles then? you saying ‘a fraction late or early … it could have been a leg breaker’ means that it was timed perfectly doesn’t it? any slide tackle mistimed COULD end in a leg break. it was never a red card. like the article Fergie posted, i can see why the ref sent him off as it did in real time seem to be a bad tackle but surely the FA can see with the benefit of replays that in fact it was a brilliant one.

  • 91 Frank The London Mag // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:40 PM

All football organisations, be it FIFA, UEFA, FA – are all corrupt. This is something we have to deal with, our only friend is the media when stupid decisions like this get given.

Wait, “stupid” makes it sound as if they don’t know what they’re doing – no, they know exactly what they’re doing. I’m not usually a conspiracy theorist but it’s clear to me that some of the larger clubs have FA in their pocket. Perhaps because they’re giving them a few bob each game just to keep them quiet.

All I know is for a fact that if De Jong was playing in the same Manchester City side as 3 years ago and was to commit to a horrendous challenge of that nature such as the leg-breaker of Ben Arfa’s he would have at least received a 3 game ban.

I guess money talks. And that rich sheik who runs Manchester City has it by the gallon. Quite literally.

  • 92 alex84 // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:45 PM

CT, i had a feeling this would happen, be interesting to no what couldnt be agreed, i.e what wages were offered

  • 93 Richy_c90 // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:46 PM

Shields Gazette were saying 5 hours ago, that his wage demands could be a problem – earning 10,000 a week at Birmingham and thought to want at least double that

  • 94 GeordieMeerkat // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:47 PM

Radio Newcastle also saying that Smith has been told he will be used in a more advanced role in the coming weeks and this came before injuries and suspensions.

  • 95 pavel // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:48 PM

Edd Case, I don’t necessarily disagree with you about Tiote, but still cannot see how Tiote can end up with a red card and De Jong get nothing.

The criteria from the FA has got to be either red card for a potentially dangerous challenge (whether contact is made or not), or red card for contact.

No matter how you look at these two decisions together, you can only come to the conclusion that the criteria are different depending on the colour of the player’s shirt.

I’m not talking about the decision on the pitch, because any ref can get it wrong, but when the FA go back and look at it afterwards there is a huge disparity in decisions where, broken bones apart, the judgement to be made was the same.

  • 96 Flop // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:52 PM

DanNUFC – I think it’s Moyo in that picture.

Wasn’t 100% sure about signing Larsson would have just been another squad player whose not good enough.

Hope Smith isn’t playing in an advanced role, we are really in for it at the weekend.

  • 97 DanNUFC // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:52 PM

this tackle is much worse than Tiote’s! How can he get away with this and yet Tiote is sent off for something very similar, even though he cleanly won the ball without putting the opposing player in danger?????

  • 98 Frank The London Mag // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:54 PM

Oh by the way it’s time to inundate the F.A with emails and letters again. This is a disgrace.

  • 99 pavel // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:56 PM

Frank, I agree with everything you say except that the media is our friend.

I hope I am wrong but do you really think we will see any comparisons of the De Jong challenge alongside the Tiote challenge on TV in the next week?

The only chance of it being noticed at all is if the club play hell.

It almost makes you nostalgic for JFK …
    … well no not really.

  • 100 DanNUFC // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:58 PM

Thanks, i was wondering whether it was him, haven’t seen anything of him yet, even in reserves match reviews.

  • 101 GeordieGerman // Jan 11, 2011 at 6:59 PM

DanNUFC, here’s another one for you. Who is that wearing the Number 29 Haris Vuckic’s number?

  • 102 TheMags // Jan 11, 2011 at 7:03 PM

is this deal defo off, really hope not 🙁

  • 103 Edd Case // Jan 11, 2011 at 7:04 PM

    DanNUFC – it wasn’t a slide tackle?!?!

Tiote LAUNCHED himself off the ground!

A slide tackle is just that, SLIDING along the ground to intercept.

If you leave the ground and lunge towards another player with one or both feet raised, that is enough to be deemed dangerous these days, so it’s tough doo doo for Tiote I’m afraid.

The harshness is only felt because it was ‘clean’ – BUT that doesn’t take away from the fact that Tiote left the ground completely and it was reckless to do so…

If I was reffing that game, in all honesty, I’d have sent him packing too. You simply cannot leave the ground like that, it gives the refs no choice, or, an easy choice.

Look, I’m angry about it too because Tiote has been immense for us and we will miss him, make no mistake.

The tackle was ‘clean’ but it was also probably just over the ‘what is acceptable’ line…

It’s gone now, let’s all move on.

GeordieGerman, that looks like Edmundsson to me (I’m not an expert on our young lads).

Him and Tavernier are almost certainly training with the club still for two reasons. Firstly Forster still returned on a regular basis during his loan at Norwich and secondly they are ineligible for Gateshead’s FA Trophy replay tonight.

  • 108 daffy // Jan 11, 2011 at 7:10 PM

Sounds like you lot are panicking ! Tiote prob would have been sent off at The Stadium of Delight , he wouldnt be able to handle the pressure . Larsson aint coming but that wouldnt matter either . Welbeck , Onouha + Cattermole back for the Derby! Bring it on!

Tiote’s so called Tackle was not a tackle !

He was going for a loose Ball !

The opponent arrived second and made it look like he was diving in at the player

Lets not bloody move on Edd Case lets give the FA hell

Let’s report De Jong’s tackle to the Police

How much longer are we going to lay down and take this abuse from the Fa ?.

We will never win another thing if we allow this to happen time after time with no fightback

Comments at the end of Match of the Day By seasoned pro’s told you that Tiote’s sending off was a disgrace .

NO let’s not move on Let’s fight back.

Since when was a tackle into free space a foul?

It made it look that way because the opponent arrived later ! After Tiote won the ball cleanly

Lay down and take this at your peril
The FA disciplinary Panel are based in London.

Do you know who sits on that panel ?
I don’t but I would like to know

And they are southern based people .

Ziani is a great player. He is not that young , 28, but knows his football. I look at him as a playmaker. Ziani beats defenders with ease. He loves to run at defenders and than makes either the 1-2 pass or through ball to the strikers. I would really like him either on the left or right but i think he is better on the right.

  • 157 baro // Jan 11, 2011 at 8:28 PM

    Karim Ziani

  • 158 gorskino10 // Jan 11, 2011 at 8:36 PM

Ziani is good but not we want a player who is there not by choice, doesnt even wanna join us he wanted ONLY to go to Monaco but as the Monaco manager got sacked the loan was on hold,He wants 1st team EVERY week much like what Bentley wanted i think this will be a bad loan as at the end of the day Wolf dont wanna sell him nor does Karim wanna leave why play a guy who could desrupt players if he plays week in week out and someone who could play great but he will go back thats why Loans suck IF they have no buy clause.

Watching Brum and have to say Larsson has been poor, a few nice simple passes thats about it, he hardly is a winger more like a Wing Back he doesnt advance at ALL it seemed like him and Carr have swaped and Lars is playing RB Carr attacks more from the wings which is a worry, tbh looks rather slow and doesnt even get down the line atleast Gutierrez does that and works harder, do we really want Larsson? after this and other matchies ive seen him no.

  • 159 colwell // Jan 11, 2011 at 8:38 PM

TBH it wasnt really Zaini that tore us apart more from Ryad and Nadir Belhadj. im not saying he is a bad player not one that WANTS to join us and when we play him it only helps Karim and Wolfs not us. unlike Arfa who join Loan with view to sign which means he WANTED to join us and GAVE HIS ALL FOR US not the team he was loaned from. these are the type of loans we need, i saw Demba Ba on loan with view to buy in summer 🙂

On another note, that was one of the stupidest, most pointless challenges (If you can call if that, more like assault imo) I’ve ever seen.

About Larsson being a good signing because he`s cheap well its not my money lol I don`t mind us spending 10mil on players.

Is Larsson a RB? we`ve got danny boy lol

  • 186 Spuggy // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:09 PM

I’d still take Larsson in a flash for 1-1.5 mill, good player, adds depth, and gives us an alternative on the right, he’s a bit more cultured. But yes he ain’t no Arfa.

Sensible signing though. For me since Arfa signed, the bigger priority is a quality pacey supporting striker – but they’re a rare breed these days.

larsson is a squad player he can player pretty much ne were in midfield and has played left back and right back he wont take us forward or change a game but for 1.5 would be excelllent cover

  • 188 Spuggy // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:14 PM

Larsson in smith/guthrie out defo improves our midfield. Guthrie had potential I always thought but seems to have fallen out of favour so may as well move him on if he’s not gonna be played.

  • 189 Spuggy // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:18 PM

Hleb’s a great player like, his quality is so far ahead of the other Brummy players.

  • 190 ToonOz // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:18 PM

Does anyone else think our recent links with middle eastern players have anything to do with Kia Joorabchian?

  • 191 ToonOz // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:19 PM

…Seeing that he is Iranian after all.

  • 192 Spuggy // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:21 PM

Quality ball from Larsson, on Carrolls head thats a goal see 🙂

  • 193 jj // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:23 PM

I really hope we sign sumone before the wkend, we need to play five in midfield against them fuckers if tiotes out and if carroll is back and even more so we need barton in the middle.

  • 194 nufc1984 // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:25 PM

would larsson really improve our squad more than Guthrie? I like larsson, but I also remember Guthrie being a good player while at Bolton when he played regularly. he was out injured for a fair while and didn’t have a full preseason. He’s younger than larsson and might be worth hanging onto as he probably delivers just as good a pass as larsson on his day.

  • 195 toonfan09 // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:29 PM

guthrie looks to slow for the premire league im not just on about his pace his decision making takes to long and takes to long to pick a pass and when he doe he always goes for the harder option than play it simple

  • 196 jaw4life // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:30 PM

larsson’s balls have been great, but i bet they are a bit saw…

  • 197 midlandstoon // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:34 PM

boring game. any transfer news lads

  • 198 gorskino10 // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:34 PM

Larrson just went off for Zigic, Overall he got a little better but then AGAIN he isnt a winger, for Brum it was Murphy on left (LB) and Carr (RB) who was doing the crossing, Larsson only crossed from setplays or when it came back from set plays he just cant advance down the wing which for a winger is a worry, he dropped to CM and just did simply passing to others in the middle, overall wasnt impressed

  • 199 bobby jay // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:35 PM

based on the brum/w ham game tonight we MUST snap up Larsson , 1.5 mill is a snip for someone with his crssing ability. Its players like Larsson that will take our squad forward, for me guthrie has had his chance and failed to take it, he’s a reasnable championship player, if Pardew had his head screwed on he should be looking to get the likes of Gradel/Taarabet for a low fee plus Guthrie.

  • 200 midlandstoon // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:35 PM

larrson squad player if he comes me thinks

  • 201 jj // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:38 PM

    ……………………CARROLL or SHOLA……………….

My team for the derby….if carrolls fit then he plays, same with jonas but i think Collo should play DM….anybody other than Smith would do to be honest

  • 202 Spuggy // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:42 PM

Carlton Coles head is on FIRE LMAO

  • 203 midlandstoon // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:43 PM

i see it lmao spuggy, interviewer said he’s steaming

  • 204 bobby jay // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:43 PM

little off topic but has elmander signed a new contract at bolton yet ? If not i think he would be a great partner for Carrol, and the type of low value buy this regime seems to look for !

  • 205 Spuggy // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:43 PM

I think Larsson is good enough for our RW to go straight into the team, our midfield is better than Birminghams with Barton and Tiote. Routledge on for last half hour with a bit pace or alt move joey out wide – mix it up.

  • 206 Spuggy // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:45 PM

Not saying he’s a world beater, but he’d add a bit quality and defo has crossing and dead ball ability which we severely lack apart from joey.

  • 207 GeordieGerman // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:46 PM

    They took Larsson out. Reason?

  • 208 Spuggy // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:47 PM

@GG maybe his balls were on fire

  • 209 toonfan09 // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:48 PM

they took him out with three minutes to go to put a striker on when they were losing just tactical

  • 210 Spuggy // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:49 PM

Maybe Foster was distracted by Cole’s streaming heed

  • 211 GeordieGerman // Jan 11, 2011 at 9:50 PM
