There is news in The Sun today that Alan Pardew wants money from Mike Ashley to fund a move for Southampton attacking midfielder, 22 year -old Adam Lallana.
Adam Lallana – Newcastle reported to be intereted
Alan met with both Mike Ashley and Derek LLambias last night, on the transfer situation, and it looks like a new target for Newcastle could be the 5’7″ St. Albans born midfielder.
Pardew is said to now want the Newcastle owner to fund a £5M deal for the Southampton lad, who has been at the south coast club since he was 12 years old, when he joined them from near by Bournemouth.
Lallana has played 112 times for Southampton with 26 goals and played 4 times at Bournemouth while on loan there in season 2007-2008.
Certainly Adam is the right age for players Ashley wants to bring to the Tyneside club, but we don;t know too much about him right now, and whether Ashley would be willing to shell out £5M for this player, remains to be seen.
Lallana was in the Southampton side which hammered Oldham Athletic 6-0 away on Tuesday night, and Adam got one of the goals.
Adam joined the first team squad back in July of 2006, and made his debut in August of 2006, against Yeovil Town, when he had just turned 18 years old.
The player has already played for the England U18s, scoring on his debut against Slovenia just 18 months after undergoing an operation to correct an irregular heartbeat.
Adam finished the 2009–10 season with 20 goals in all competitions, and that made him the first Southampton midfielder ever to score 20 goals in one season.
Hit current contract expires in June of 2015, and of course we have no idea if this report has any truth in it.
