Campbell Could Leave Newcastle In January – Update On Lallana

News today that West Ham may move in for 36 year-old Sol Campbell, whom Newcastle signed on a free transfer in the summer, following his wedding to Northumberland resident Fiona Barratt.

Sol Campbell – Newcastle may let him go in January

But things have hardly turned out well for either Sol or Newcastle since he arrived and in the 6 appearances he’s so far made for the club, Sol has made a few errors and looked a little bit off the pace in the Premier League.

And it seems the main reason Sol came to Newcastle was to team up again with his former coach, Chris Hughton at Spurs.

Chris was doing a great  job on Tyneside, having just got the club promoted at the first attempt with a massive 102 points and 30 wins and winning the Championship by 11 points from WBA.

And Chris even made a good start to the Premier League having Newcastle in the top half, but as we have found out, it looks like owner Mike Ashley was just looking for a chance to replace the Londoner, and did so when Chris had an unfortunate run of 2 points out of 5 league games, and the side were beaten 3-1 at West Brom.

Mike decided to sack Chris before the following  game against Liverpool, because if he had waited there was always going to be a good chance that Newcastle would win that game, which in fact they did under new manager Alan Pardew.

Nothing like gratitude from the owner is there?

Sol is currently the 4th choice central defender on Tyneside behind Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson, and with Steven Taylor back and signing a long term contract, and also playing well, although he’s out injured at the moment with his hamstring, it wouldn’t look like Sol will get too many games on Tyneside.

It wouldn’t surprise us much if Sol goes to West Ham, where he would have a better chance of getting a game, and Newcastle may even be able to get a small fee for him.

And a little more news about Adam Lallana from one of my friends, Terry, in Southampton, and he reckons Adam is the best player at Southampton.

But he also mentioned that 17 year-old Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is playing very well, but we hear Southampton want £10M for him, and some of the top four clubs may be in for him.

Newcastle had been linked with the player a few weeks ago, but Newcastle wouldn’t be able to afford the 17 year-old at that price.

There have also been some favorable comments on the site about Adam, from Southampton supporters, and we had mentioned Lallana scored 20 goals last season, and this season he already has 9 goals, so for £5M this lad may be more than a decent buy.

Somebody call Mike Ashley and tell him to buy this kid. 😀

Comments welcome.

    Ed,
I like many supporters called for hughtons head after the dismal 3-1 defeat against West Brom. I didn’t really mean it at the time, but the performance was a shambles. I think Chris was sacked after getting thrashed at WBA….not because we were destined to beat Liverpool….

I dont think it is so much that Sol is 4th choice, more that he is unfit!

The main reason Sol Campbell signed for us is that we are an easy commute from his home.

He was so out of condition we should never have signed him.

demba ba sounds even worse than n’zogbia tbh. At least when HBA got stroppy with Marseilles it was because they were dragging their feet on the deal, he didn’t just go on strike for the sake of it like Ba has.

@Irish Geordie: No offence mate but that’s messy as owt. I can’t concentrate because of everything going on. Give me an email at GeordieCode … gmail.com and I can have a toy around with the code for you if you fancy.

@Sgt. H: Good to see you back fit and well mate! Have you finished your retirement yet?

As for your comment on Altidore, I make a point of watching the USA matches when I can (a friend of mine is an avid Fulham fan and he lives… somewhere in America… where it snows a lot) and basically Altidore either hasn’t taken his chances or he just hasn’t impressed me. A few flashes of gold a game but overall he appears to be a faster version of Shola with a very random end product, although his through balls are usually very intelligent.

Remember when he was at Hull? Did he even score?

The more i think on it, martins could do a job for us playing along side carroll, would be more lethal then shola cuz he has speed, def has goals in his locker

    thump,
thanks for the well wishes thump, hope you and your famly are well too. Good to hear from ya mate, yes im enjoying retirement, making up for lost time with the wife and kids. I owe em about 9 years of lost time.

as for altidore he scored for a hull 2 goals i think, but he had no service that team was terrible. if you watch him he causes defenses fits. As for the national team he is our best striker along with landy cakes and dempsey when he plays up front. Im telling yall, with this kid (he’s only 20, youngest yank to net a hat trick for national team) playing alongside carrol with deliveries from barton he would be lethal. dempsey could solve our wing problems as well.

To be fair mate, Dempsey is the heart and soul of that squad with Lando (I think it was the game after the England match where he scored a last minute equaliser – won me £80). I’ll never understand why Bradley insists on playing his lad when he barely does anything.

That said I think the US squad is short in the strike department but if you have an amazing midfield you don’t need to have good strikers and with Lando and Dempsey running the wings you could put Rob Green up there and he’d score a hat trick.

hope not dont want a guy who wants first team football ALL the time and wont give his all for us cause its only a loan. i prefer Hammil/Gradel/El-Arabi over Ziani ANY day, this loan will help out Ziani and Wolfsburg but will not help our exisiting players in the Wing (Barton/Jonas) nor the club.
