An important part of Newcastle’s game this afternoon against Spurs, is how our two big front men perform, in the absence of Andy Carroll.
Leon Best – an important player for Newcastle this afternoon
Shola Ameobi and Leon Best will again get the chance to bang in some goals for Newcastle, and how Newcastle perform this afternoon will depend a lot on how these two lads play.
Alan Pardew is imploring the two of them to make a difference in this game, as Newcastle certainly could do with all 3 points today, after last Sunday’s desperate and disappointing (to say the least) finish to the game at Sunderland:
“Especially with Leon, he has produced in the two Premier League games,” “The challenge is in front of him to produce that level.”
“Shola, as we know, can play for this club. He has shown that over many years.”
“They have the shirts at the moment and if they produce the same work-rate they did at Sunderland, they have every chance of keeping them.”
Pardew admits that Tottenham have an excellent squad, and has rightly complimented the tremendous job Harry Redknapp has done at the London club, in just over two years.
“They are title challengers, you can’t get away from that.” “They have some outstanding players, as they proved against Manchester United last week.”
“Harry Redknapp can turn round to his bench and see internationals and this week I might have a young player who has never been involved in the first team.”
” I have always been a big admirer of Harry – he does not make mistakes.” “Harry’s been fortunate that he’s had good finance to strengthen the team.”
“And he very rarely makes mistakes in the transfer market, and that’s why they’ve got so many options.”
“He’s got a good little thing going and a fantastic squad of players who can certainly challenge for the title.”
“They had good players when Harry went there but he’s done a great job in turning them round. Their confidence was low and he instills that in a team.”
“That’s why he is being linked with England job.”
There’s no doubt that Tottenham are now an excellent side, but Newcastle have already beaten some good sides this season including Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates and Liverpool 3-1 at St. James’ Park.
And of course we’ve already had three colossal home wins in the League so far, in smashing Aston Villa 6-0, embarrassing Sunderland 5-1 and hammering West Ham 5-0.
And today is another chance for the lads to take another top scalp in Spurs, and we are hoping that’s just exactly what the Newcastle side will do this afternoon.
Howay The Lads!!
